http://www.idealtools.com.au/festool_psb_400_ebq-set_carvex_jigsaw?category_id=1691

It say's an SYS 1, and the T-Loc Systainers haven't come out in Australia yet, so i'm getting confused here!!

The accessories is listed as a separate item here in an SYS 2  [huh]

I'm guessing it must be all the parts that you've listed, sounds about right for the price...

Is it possible to have both a corded and cordless solution where you can slide in some kind of DC transformer into the battery dock and run a cordless tool with an AC cord? Seems this would be a good way to have the convenience of cordless when you really need it but continous power when you don't need the portability. Never understood why more tool manufacturers don't offer this option.

Probably since they don't want the sales to bottom out on all their corded tools and batteries.

Shane,
You've probably already covered this but, will the Carvex have a speed control in the trigger switch , or will it be only controlled by a speed control wheel ala the Trion?

Good idea! I never thought about that!

I vote for Shane sending Paul a Carvex ASAP so we can get a pre-release video review!

Hey now- I already volunteered to do the pre release video review when I asked about using the angle base as a coping foot- Paul already got enough free toys!  [tongue]

it's a no brainer for R&D, easy and cheap to build, (as in a battery charger) but for some reason no one makes one available... hmmmm???

The Carvex was a big hit at the door and drawers class.  We got to play with all of the models.  I really liked the D handle but most other guys seemed to prefer the barrel.  That strobe is sweet....

It's going to be fun when these thing are on the shelves.

I made the request last year on the Festool wish list thread, but nobody seemed interested.

Just a heads up for any other Australian readers that might be unsure of whats on offer in the vague adverts for the Carvex Jigsaws, Anthony from Ideal Tools in Melbourne posted this on the Woodwork Forum.... May be of help to some one so here goes  [cool]

There are a lot of options for the new CARVEX jigsaw range, and a lot of available models with confusing codes to make it very difficult to understand what might be the best model and/or set and what you get with it.

I will try and describe it all....

Firstly there are two styles of grip, the barrel grip and the saddle grip.
The barrel grip has a code PS 400, and the saddle grip has a code PSB 400.

Then there are corded and cordless versions.
The corded versions don't have any change in code, but the cordless versions have a C appended to the alpha part of the code. For example a cordless barrel grip is a PSC 400 and a cordless saddle grip is a PSBC 400.

Features and accessories.
The codes after the numerical 400 define what is included, including features and accessories.
All the CARVED have electronics controlling speed, torque, overload, etc, so have an E after the numerical 400.
All the CARVEX have an electronic blade brake so have a B after the E.
The corded versions are all plug-it type, there are no fixed-lead CARVEX. So the corded have a Q after the B.
If the CARVEX comes in a Systainer it is followed by PLUS, and if it is part of a set of many accessories it is followed by SET. With respect to tools in Systainers (PLUS versions) any SET version is also delivered in a Systainer even though the PLUS code is replaced by SET.
As an example the barrel grip corded model with all the accessories supplied as a set would be the PSB 400 EBQ-SET.

Just to confuse things, there are some cordless models designated GG where the EB might otherwise be. There are cordless versions with no charger. Designed for people who already have a suitable charger supplied with the Festool lithium-ion cordless drill, who don't want two chargers. These GG models cannot be ordered as SET versions.

PLUS versus SET.

The PLUS version of the corded model includes:

The CARVEX jigsaw;
2 saw blades;
splinterguard;
standard baseplate
StickFix baseplate
plug-it lead
in a SYSTAINER SYS 1

The PLUS version of the cordless model includes:

The CARVEX jigsaw;
2 saw blades;
splinterguard;
standard baseplate
StickFix baseplate
charger TRC 3;
battery pack BPS 15 Li 2.6 Ah
in a SYSTAINER SYS 2

The SET version contains everything in the PLUS, plus another Systainer containing the following:

5 splinterguards;
dimpled baseplate,
hard fibre baseplate,
baseplate for metallic materials;
Adjustable Angle Bevel Base;
circle cutting attachment (includes adjustable trammel and another base which is also used for cutting on a guide rail);
StickFix felt
switch lock for CMS
in a SYSTAINER SYS 2
Essentially the SET version contains every accessory in the CARVEX range excluding a guide rail.

Hope this helps some.

The base kit comes with EVERYTHING, all of the bases + the circle cutter + extra splinterguards + extra felts for the felt base. It's a great deal. However, there are no additional discounts or "package pricing" for buying the Carvex and base kit together.

All content removed.    I will no longer discuss what I pay for anything on this forum because people get all worked about someone doing something illegal.

My dealer told me it would be 500 even if i purchased both,  maybe it wasn't a package discount but a different festool discount on spending X amount of dollars?...

You're going to want to double check that price since we've not heard anything here about a package discount.  As far as I know the price is $350 for the saw and $200 for the base kit.
