Carvex Jigsaws - Post your questions here!

Ordered mine today too, i went D handle with plug it, and the accessories systainer, looking forward to this  [smile] [big grin]

does anyone know with the barrel grip, how hard it is to go on/off.    I know sometimes when I cut with my VS porter cable D handle. i like to slow it down with the trigger.
is this possible with the carvex or do you slow the whole blade down with a dial and then it gets turned on and it's on until you pull that switch back.

The trigger on the barrel grip is a push on and push off design.  The switch is located on both sides of the tool(ambidextrous).  I found that it was very comfortable to operate cycling it on and off.  Also when the speed dial is in the A(automatic) mode, the saw adjust the speed depending on the cut.  I am not sure if I really like this.  I didn't  get to play with it that long to see how it works cutting different materials.  We only cut some melamine during the doors and drawer class.

Any other questions...???

I would like to highly recommend that you guys consider pre-ordering the Carvex and CXS if they're on your wish list. These are going to be in very high demand.

Any pics of the smoothness of the cut and the straightness of the cut you can share?  I realize that this might be hard and that a picture will not do it justice, but it would be nice to get an idea of what the saw can do. I did watch the video sawing off of the big hunk of wood that was pretty cool.  Also, can the plug tilt 90 up and down or is it just 90 degrees up?

Thanks, Scot. I'll try to get some images and/or video for you to demonstrate cut quality. For the smoothness of cut, are you wanting me to use a fine tooth blade to show the smoothest possible cut or a coarser tooth blade?

As for the cord, it only pivots upward.

Hey now- I already volunteered to do the pre release video review when I asked about using the angle base as a coping foot- Paul already got enough free toys!   [tongue]

If you're gonna use the Carvex to cope, make sure you don't have it in Automatic!!

Does the Carvex take festool blades only?  or any T shank blade?

I have a ton of bosch blades that are for cutting thick material.

Any T shank blade will work.

Hi Shane,

I would be interested in seeing the smoothest cut possible.  Also, if you know how deep a cut the parallel guides allow that would be helpful -- I could go out and check, but since this does not have a parallel guide, I am thinking that the parallel guides could work for thin strips.  It must be close to the max since they allow for the TS75.

Thanks!

(otherwise you cut your guide rail in half).

Can you do a demonstration video of THAT?  [popcorn]

I am sure that if you send in one of your rails Shane will be happy to do a video.  You could also send me your rail and after I get my Carvex I will be more than happy to demonstrate for you.

Always willing to help. [smile]

Hi, My name is Jean-Nicolas and I am a weekend wood worker.
I live in the Netherlands and already own a Carvex (corded barrel type).
I have a question regarding the use with the guide rail. When I insert the base on the guide rail, there is some play. As a consequence, I have to be very careful if I want to make a straight line. Am I the only one in this situation (a question for Shane or the other European users indeed) ? Is it a normal design (to avoid to block the blade) ? Why Festool did not put two screws like on the OF 1010 guide rail base which allows to adjust the play?
Anyway, I should say that for the rest, I enjoy this jigsaw. Cutting circle is fast and precise. The stroboscopic light is awesome (not a gadget at all). The barrel grip is ok. However, it is my first barrel grip (I had before a D handle from Metabo) and you need to get use to the side Switch. But like every toy (sorry tool), you have an adaptation period.

Probably seems sill to some, but I'll probably sell my D-handle PS300 and get this, just for the light.

[crying]
