I have an 18v carvex 420 and recently the light stays on all the time. Does this indicate a fault?

hi bigchas, I have the same model and I can confirm that mine does the same thing its rather random though , I just reset it now & then to light off , the other week I had the carvex across the other side of the room I was working in and the light kept going on and off randomly while I was cutting sheet goods with the ts55 I couldn't figure that out , I just so happened to be at tts in bury talking to the service guys about a tool I had left there for repair and I asked the guys if they ever had a carvex do that and they had not , I said it may be haunted jokingly , then this week I had the same again lights on when I was cutting flooring with the ts 55, I figured out what was causing it every time I engaged the trigger on the 55 the carvex light came on  well it was the power cable from the 55 via the midi trailing over the carvex so this was producing an electrical field very slightly outside the cable sheathing causing the light to come on , now that's a first for me guys. not saying that's whats happening to yours as slightly different scenario , also my carvex is out of warranty so I can deal with a light on now & then .

. Actually , I've seen this first hand with someone at my local Festool dealer who stopped by to show them how they figured it out. In their case, they had an aftermarket item with a strong magnet in it that they stored in the tool Systainer with the tool next to it. The magnet brought part of the tool to life, draining the battery down.  Pretty wild, yet with electronics , so believeable.... I think it was a drill with the light coming on, not a Carvex, but same issue of a magnetic field affecting the tool .... [blink]
