Hello FOGers,
I have been in the shop so much lately that I am noticing a few "bugs" that I would like to work out. Mostly the annoying hose drag.
I have the extra hose height support for my CT and would like to possibly hang my hose from the ceiling above my work area. Has any one done this? if so please post pictures or links. I don't want to mount my CT to the ceiling and I expect to buy a longer hose. I want a clean look and a very functional idea.
Thanks.

I have a pole over every workbench that the dust extraction hose hangs from, it slides to exactly where I need it to and it comes off in a second if I need to use it elsewhere unlike other methods where the hose is fastened to a boom arm. I've been using this setup for well over 12 months and never had any kind of problem with it. For me it works really well, is very simple and very cheap.

Here's a FOG post about it.

Thanks,
I do have the boom arm but I have that over my MFT table and I am looking to put something over my work bench 4x8 area. I probably will build some sort of arm like what is at the car washes, or even better what Festool sells in the UK.
I still would like to see whats out there.

Hi, no picture but i put a bungee rope on the ceiling that holds the cable and hose and allows movement.
A bungee is an elastic rope with a metal hook either end that usually is used for tying things on to bike racks. If you screw a couple of hooks here and there on the ceiling you can easily move it about where you want. Hope that makes sense.

+1 on the Bungees.

There really can't be a much better solution than this. Very cheap, takes minutes to install, and customizable at any time. I have 3 eye hooks in different spots on the ceiling where I usually work. I just leave the bungee hanging from the hooks, anytime I need them, I just reach up, hook on the hose, and I'm back to work. Boom arms and sliding tracks look great and probably work great too. Just can't beat the bungees for productivity.

I have tried bungee cords to hold the DE hose up and thought there must be something better. There is. It's a pole about 4' above and running the whole length of the workbench that the hose loops over and hangs down from. Really simple and very cheap to do. In my opinion this is way better in many ways than a bungee cord and for me in a workshop setting it is better than the Festool boom arm set-up too.

Just screw a couple of hooks into the ceiling and hang a bungee between the hooks. No need to overthink this.
