I was doing some heavy duty drilling with my pretty new C 18 drill - drilling 20mm holes using Parf Guide System in Jatoba for a bench I'm making. I was using the Centrotec drill bit that did not come with the kit - bought it separately. Seems like it should work since the C 18 is not supposed to be a lightweight.
I had to press down hard to make progress. I was just at the bottom of a hole and suddenly the bit stopped spinning, with the drill still running. I made sure the bit was properly seated in the chuck. Then I pulled the bit off the Centrotec chuck and tried to pull the Centrotec chuck off the drill. It won't come off. It also won't click into place on the drill shaft. I can hold the chuck in my hand, run the drill, and the chuck doesn't spin. Or I can turn the drill off and spin the chuck around the drill shaft. I can't seat the chuck all the way onto the shaft.
Sounds like it will get to make an exciting trip to Festool service, but I was wondering if anyone else has had any issues like this?
This is two Festool tools that have needed service this year. That's two more than all of my other Milwaukee, DeWalt, Delta, Grizzley, Makita, PorterCable, Laguna, Performax, Jet, and Bosch tools put together in the last ten years (except for a Milwaukee M12 battery that quit charging). It's a good thing I like the design for dust extraction.
And... my CT 36 hose garage has -not- broken yet
