If you want to really round out you kit take a look here. Centrotec Kit

Axminster ships to the US and the kit is not available here.

It includes the stubby metric bits, both counter sync bits, the hook drive, the centering bit.

Wish I'd seen that 2 days ago, that's
A nice kit

This is close to the same version offered in the US about 4 years ago - except it was brads instead of split-points. This one has the old style driver bits. I have both sets so I can keep one with each drill. I wish that these would be more of a standard offering, though or allow you to buy the individual components in imperial.

You're right, the imperial is not available elsewhere making it an apples and oranges choice.

Didn't they have a kit a few years ago with the zobo bits?
In the USA
Missed that one also.

I ordered from them last Wednesday. They shipped the next day, providing a UPS tracking number.  Scheduled by UPS to be delivered tomorrow.

They appear to have a large assortment of Festool items listed on their website. This is a quote from their website: "Fisheries Supply is a premier distributor of Festool portable power tools. Each Festool product works together to make each one function more efficiently, effectively, and accurately. View our full line of Festool air and electric power tools, engine room and utility lights, and more!"

Don't know if they're an Authorized Festool Dealer or not, but they appear to be from the offerings on their website. Edit, Just looked the Festool USA website and they're listed there as a dealer.

(I read a few reviews of the company prior to ordering and saw a few negative reviews, but they all dealt with customer service by individuals at the physical location of the company. Common thread was not being assisted by employees.)

I've had nothing but excellent service from them so far. I'll post anything of note after I receive the shipment if anything appears
noteworthy, or amiss.

This is the company I was able to find the older metric version of the 1400 router, just last week.  The router shipped fast and arrived in good condition, however the serial number on the router did not match the one on the Systainer,  so not sure what to make of the problem, I sent a message to Tyler and he advised me to use the machine number for registration, since that is the one I would need for warranty work.

I don't consider it a big deal, and can't think of a nefarious explanation for why it happened, so I will just live with it and move on.

Could be anything.

Example; shop has two on display, one below a table, one on a shelf. Then when you ordered it, they picked one of those two and put it in one of the spare systainers... except they picked the wrong systainer.

That is what I was thinking, but they only had one metric in stock, and no Imperial (basically, this was their last one in stock).  I'm thinking it happened sometime in the past, as you suggested.  Does not change anything for me.  I suspect a conversation will be required should I ever decide to sell the router, which is why I sent a message to Tyler right away to document what happen.

Received my centrotec set from fisheries supply today. Everything looks great, packed well, and took less than a week from order date to get here.  No expedited shipping either. Wouldn't hesitate to order from then again

Ditto Shane...thanks for the heads-up. My order said 5-7 day wait.

Yeah, with the quick little flurry of orders we've received, I know that's more than we had in stock. And, I learned than one of them was damaged when inspected in the warehouse.

Not to worry, we get regular shipments from Festool and we already have more on order.

Thanks for the orders, all.

Edit - Adding a couple of photos we took so you can see what you're getting. The handle will need to be swapped from your original lid.

Shane

Any ideas on availability. I ordered on 4/6 and got the 5-7 days notice. I see they are still listed as out of stock on the web page.
Just anxious to get it.
Thanks

[member=12645]UncleJoe[/member] and everyone else who ordered the attic lid...

Our website does indeed state 5-7 days for out of stock items. That's because we get regular shipments from Festool and that's the typical time frame to get an item in stock. We had placed an order for more of them on or around 4/6, when I started posting about them. We were just notified over the weekend by Festool that they do not have any of the lids in stock unfortunately. The ETA given was mid-to-late May to get them in stock, presumably they have to be shipped from Germany.

We will be sending an email to customers who ordered to let them know about the unexpected delay. Apologies for the inaccurate information on delivery, but at the time there was no indication that they were not in stock given when I was inquiring about them.

Hi guys
I've been keeping up with this thread and I've found it pretty informative.  May I ask this, if you changed the lid to an attic lid do the parts inside stay put?  And will the Attic lid interfer with the contents of the kit?
I believe I have a line on an installers kit (older version) and I would be interested in changing the lid if it improves storage capacity

I also like the idea of changing the lid on my Triton Jig Saw.  That would be an enormous help providing it doesn't interfere with the saw and the power cord.

Thank you all

I made his mod to my installers set.  I can confirm that the attic lid keeps the contents of the installers kit in place just like the regular lid.

If anyone is looking for the 89 piece set, found this, https://www.fisheriessupply.com/fes...e-installer-s-drill-bit-and-driver-set-201312, and ordered myself one. Priced at $299

I tried the link and it shows the Installers Kit is unavailable.  I thought I had one lined up a few weeks ago but it was not the case from someone here on FOG.  I would prefer the older style ones over the newer style ones but I might not get one at all.  The prices I see posted here are all over the place.  The one I had lined up was very nice and it went for $199.00 plus shipping.  I thought  I had it but there was a mix up.  I see $299.00, $399.99, $425.00  That is a bit crazy.

I believe the original kit was $425 five or six years ago.

The latest kit was $299.

Like anything else that was in short supply and is no longer available - you should expect to pay a premium for now if you want it.  :(

With a bit of investigation I've found that there were 98 pc. sets correct?  And the newer ones are 89 Pc. sets correct?  And I understand there was also another set but I've not found what the difference is.  I would like the 98 Pc set.

I'm considering buying from Axminster in the UK.  I like the set they offer.  I contacted them to see what the price would be with shipping.  As someone said,  the price is about $300.00 plus shipping,  that's a far cry from $425.00 and it is the 98 pc set.  Yes, it is the metric version but I don't see that really as a negative.

I did read a post on this thread that one of the posters has both the old and the new.  Would it be possible to post a few pictures to see the difference between the two?  I would hope it would be more than just 10 more driver bits?

thank you for all the information all of you.

I contacted Axminster and their reply was that they are not allowed to ship to the US under their agreement with FESTOOL.  I know I've talked with a few of you who have ordered from Axminster recently.  What gives with the reply they're not allowed under agreement with FESTOOL?????

I was hoping to purchase the Installers Kit they offer the 98 pc set.  It was the same price as the 89 pc set that sells here when you can find one.

I'm confused why I got this email when I know they ship here

I just tried the German Amazon, they have the set but again in red prints stated.  No shipping to the US.
Any suggestions

Thanks guys
