CENTROTEC tool chuck to be used on Hex Shank 1/4" tools

Hey All!

I just got my Assembly package SYS 1 CE-SORT and I would like to use it's components with other Hex Shank 1/4" tools that I have, like a Makita Impact Driver, Hammer Drill, Drill And Screwdriver All In One:

I want to do this

Is there a Centrotec chuck with a 1/4" male on it's back so I can use it on regular Hex Shank 1/4" tools?

Is this too weird??? [wink] [wink]

Ari, my memory is that the Centrotec bits will fit into a 1/4" Hex bit holder, but they won't lock.

I'm still waiting for Festool to release a quick-change 1/4" Hex chuck for their drills and impact driver, until then I'll be sporting the Makitas as well.

I'm curious to hear your feedback on the Makita Hybrid tool, I've been eying it for years but it always seemed a little heavy. Impact driver, low speed drill, high speed drill, hammer drill, all in one. Panasonic also makes a Hybrid that is nearly identical in form and function.

Good luck!

Ari, you and a friend with a welder could probably get creative with a welder and make something like that work, I would worry though about run-out. Let us know what you figure out!  [big grin]

Tom, how are you?

Thanks for your reply.

I've used this tool for about 3 years now and I like it very much. It's a very versatile and useful tool and I use it for every job I have. There is an issue on changing from  second to first gear. You must do it carefully. Some times it doesn't crank well and you must slow run to crank it. I never used it on impact drill mode but all other functions, are stunning !!

I had the opportunity to see one disassembled and it's genius!! You gonna like it!

EDIT>>>>>

Tom, I will find a solution and will post here. You bet....!!!

It isn't weird, in fact Festool already made the solution for you. And it is in the SYS 1 CE-SORT you say you already got. Didn't notice this little thing?

Alex, that's right I remember that. It still doesn't QUITE work as it does not have a detent for a 1/4" Hex check, this adapter is for using Centrotec in a 3-jaw chuck.

Ari, I'm glad to hear that you've had such good luck with your Hybrid driver, I'll take a closer look next time I'm at the tool store. I agree with you on not using the hammer drill component, I started using rotary hammers for my masonry drilling 7 years ago and never looked back!  [smile]

Hey Alex. Yes I did notice this little thing but it is not as little as you say and doesn't fit on 1/4" chucks. Thanks!!

Tom, I solved the problem:

Just kidding...  [tongue]

There really isn't a great solution for ball-detent bits with the Festool. That's why I have a small Makita driver too. Having a second driver is not a bad idea anyway. There are so many jobs that require repetitive bit swapping....

It's very unlikely Festool will make a ball-detent friendly chuck - it's an opportunity for a 3rd party.

Thanks Andvari and Mavrick1903!

Thanks very much, I will look for a machined solution and as soon as it's ready, let you guys know here.

Try the Wera ringmatic rapidaptor  , although it does have a bit of play in it it will hold any 1/4 hex shank bit wether  it has a ball detent or smooth shank , im not sure how it works but i have one and you can't pull any bit out unless you push the collar forward , i swung my makita 18v (with a spade bit in it ) and it wouldnt release the bit

Dave, I did not know the brand. Very cool!! Thanks!
