Circle Cutting with OF1010 or OF1400

There are many ways to make a trammel.

Do you want to “cut a circle” in order to make a hole or produce a disk?

If it’s to make a disk can it have a hole in the center or not?
If a pivot hole is okay there are still many ways to go.

If no pivot hole is allowed the elevator bolt is simple.

If you expect high stress on the pivot point then a bolt can be mounted in a larger disk to increase contact area for temporary adhesive (like psa tape or hot glue).

I think, given the low volume of circles I cut, that using the existing guide bars and guide stop with a longer bolt will work. Just never thought that much about that. Right now I am thinking about a round frame where it doesn’t matter if there is a hole in the center as it will be waste. Or I could make fig up that the piece would be mounted on and glue up an octagon the right size to generate the size circle I need.

After reading these recommendations, I'm glad to see I'm not the only one to overthink things (and overspend).  As I grow older, I've learned to try to keep it simple and work with what I have.  You won't be disappointed.
