CMS + 1400 + 3 1/2" panel raising bit

Is there a way to use a 3 1/2" panel raising bit with the 1400 in the cms?  The centering ring for the 1400 won't allow the bit to be lowered below the table.  While I'd eventually like to be able to use the 2200 in the cms, I bought the system this summer knowing that it wasn't approved for it yet.  However, I didn't think that the table as is wouldn't even accommodate a 3 1/2" bit.

Although I do not have the CMS-OF, I have had the exact problem with my (old) home made router table. I had to use a false base, made of 10mm MDF, which had a semi-circular hole for (half) of the cutter. The MDF was screwed to the table top (ouch - if it were my CMS-OF) and against the fence, The panel was then passed over the MDF, against the fence, for the cuts. I am sorry but I have no photograph to illustrate this.

I took the table out, traced around the router base with a pencil, removed the centering ring, and then replaced the router using the pencil marks as a guide.  Another issue that I encountered while installing the bit was that the housing behind the bit isn't wide enough to accommodate a bit of that size so I'm going to have to make some sacrificial fences out of mdf in order to push the material away from the bit.  Are horizontal panel raisers not used much in Europe?  Being able to accommodate a bit of this size seems to be a pretty logical expectation for a router table so it seems odd that the cms falls short in that area.

If you're using the CMS' fence, you'll be hard-pressed to use a bit larger than 3" due to the way the fence opening is cast.  I did manage to use a bit 3-3/8" in diameter with the fence, but had to keep part of the bit below the protrusion on the left side of the fence opening.

It's the fence opening behind the bit that I was referring to.  I own enough Festools to know that there seems to be a reason behind everything with each of the tools.  It's because of that that I'm always surprised when I come across something like this.  Why wouldn't they design the fence to accommodate a bit of this size?
