Hey everyone, just wondering how anyone else has gone about compacting their power tools from multiple seperate systainers into grouping them into systainers.

I'm new to Festool and am switching from Makita where I had them all tucked into the Milwaukee pack out rolling toolbox. So I'd love to keep them in each of their systainers but unfortunately it would be impracticable when unloading at a job side, having to take multiple trips to bring everything in, as well as take up so much room with multiple boxes

The tools I'll be taking to each job is:
Planer, circular saw, jig saw, angle grinder, hammer drill, multitool and trimmer.

Hi [member=83001]joshl_1995[/member] ,

Hi Josh, for myself I keep each tool segregated into its own Systainer with its related accessories. This takes up a bit more space, but when I grab a tool box I know that I'm also grabbing all of the accessories as well.

For some tools like impact drivers and drills, I will combine them. For instance, I have a Sys 187 for my Makita impact drivers, and a different Sys 187 for my Makita drills. In this case, I'll usually grab the relevant tool but leave the case.

I do keep a Toolbox M 237 available for assembling individual tools to make ad-hoc "kits" for a given day.

The Sys-RB Cart is great for moving stacks of sustainers around a job site. If you're on rough ground, the Sys-Roll hand truck may be a better option. I mostly work in finished homes, so the Sys-RB Cart is a great fit for my needs, I usually carry at least four in the van.

I'd love to keep everything in its own systainer, but my job as a cabinet maker. It's kind of hard to sometimes fit everything in the truck with keeping the ability to leave some stuff in there (tools I don't need for the job).

I do some work at my rentals outside of the shop, but it's always different.  I have some tools that are in a single systainer for that tool with accessories.  The drawer boxes on a Rollerboard are pretty nice for hardware and smaller tools, not having to tilt the stack to get stuff out is a big plus.  Tanos just introduced a double depth drawer sortainer, which might be good for slightly bigger tools.

I also have a bunch of boxes that I just throw a pile of stuff (more hand tools than power tools) in a Systainer with no particular organization except the label on the outside so I know what's in there.

Northeast Woodworks has a pretty good video of his cabinet installation packout setup that might give you some ideas:=1502s

The ability to "leave some stuff behind" pretty much necessitates individuality. Picking through a Systainer of multiple tools, to leave some in the van, seems silly when you could just leave a few particular Systainers. It does take more space to have modularity, it just comes down to which is more important.
If you literally do not have the space, the question answers itself

I would love to keep everything in its own systainer, but what else I look at is if need everything then I'd have to have numerous trips to get everything inside the job, so I was more thinking if I was to group power tools I use all the time and tools I use in specific situations then that way I'd almost compact all my power tools into 2 systainers. Though my original question I guess was more what have people done in terms of compacting tools. I've thought I could probably buy foam insert to keep them safe and from banging around.

I have done a few custom “consolidations” similar to what you are describing.  The first one I did was consolidating a CXS 10.8, TID 18, and TPC drill into an open top toolbox and the using a SYS organizer underneath to hold all of the accessories and drill chucks. Kaizen foam is my preferred method to make the custom insert that will hold all of the items.

As mentioned above, I only do this with the tools that I know for a fact I will use every day. Those that are hit and miss, I leave in their original systainers.

I also made my own “energy set” years ago before festool offered one. I don’t store batteries or chargers in any of the tool systainers. They all go into the energy setup, which has a separate systainer for batteries and another for 3 permanently mounted chargers. If I know that there’s a good chance that I won’t burn through all 8 batteries in a single day, the charger systainer stays on the vehicle.

Sounds exactly like what I'm after, could you send me a few photos of your setup?
