Consolidated Q&A for CMS Router Table

I see where you are coming from JimH2.  I think I'm going to sell it anyway.  Eventually I will build a new shop or move to a place that has more space - and then I will buy a new jointer. 

I have thought about selling my ridgid table saw too... but only because I have a second table saw.  I don't think there is a replacement for a table saw.  I believe Festool will be bringing a table saw to the U.S. soon! 
 
Can you use the out feed table as an infeed table on the standalone cms?

Also, what is the advantage of the MFT model since you can't use the MFT table for in feed or out feed?

The infeed and outfeed tables are one and the same part number.  It can be used on either side.  I use two; one on either side.  The CMS-VL's only advantage as I see it is that it's more compact.  I prefer the CMS-GE because I can use extension tables  and can use it unattached to an MFT.

Jim,

I don't think you can use the table as an infeed, as the switch location is there and would get covered.

I personally have the VL version and love it. I bought for the reason that I wanted a single work surface as well as I knew I was going to mount my Incra LS to the setup and the MFT holes were crucial to that effort.

If I need a proper infeed or out on mine, I use a stack of systainers.

One thing that others have done is to get Kapex extensions.

Exactly!  That's why I replaced and moved my power switch to above and behind the fence.  I just couldn't see putting my face any nearer to a spinning bit.  If something went bozo, I wanted to shut everything down and right now, without having to grope for the stock switch with an infeed table and the slider bracket in my way. 

 
Is it possible to connect 2 D36 hoses to the CMS?  Wouldn't having a D36 connected to the router provide better air flow?

It IS possible.  Use the Y-connector with 2 - 50mm outputs at the CT and connect 2 - 36mm hoses.

Does the Y-connector that comes with the hose kit for the CMS have 2 - 50mm outputs or would I have to purchase a different Y-connector?  If it's the same, was thinking about swapping the D26 hose in the kit for a D36 and paying the difference.

Yes, both Y-outputs are 50mm because the vac end of all hoses are 50mm (the end that connects to the CT). I just bought the connector because I already had two hoses. I've never needed more than a 27mm hose below the CMS table though to be honest.

In most cases I'd agree with you, Richard. I did find that when routing setup blocks for my raised panel door bits from UHMW plastic, the relatively large pieces of plastic removed from the blocks clogged the 27mm hose, but when I reversed the hoses, they passed through the 36mm hose just fine.
