Sent in my 5 year old CT 26 for a repair. Festool came back with an estimate of $540.00 to fix it. I have been a loyal Festool fan until now. Unfortunately I am so enveloped in the Festool brand I bought a new CT 36 rather than spending that kind of money for a repair. I have to say that this left a bad taste in my mouth. I have always been a fan boy of Festool and selling people on there warranty and how they stand behind their products. How can you possibly charge that kind of money to repair a vacuum. Not happy.

Thats a bummer, can you elaborate on what parts they wanted to replace, why the cost was so high. Just curious here---

send it to the local tool repair people and see what they charge
Unfortunately I am so busy right now I did not delve into what needed to be repaired. I am doing alarge install with mostly MDF and Xterra and am desperate for dust collection. I have another midi and 26 going but need the 3rd vac for other tools. After I heard they wanted to charge me to send it back I decided just to move on. Count my losses (literally)

It sounds like you use the vac a lot, but 5 years is still to short for what sounds like a catastrophic failure, based on the estimate. I agree that you having to pay for them to return the vac because you decided not to have it repaired is kinda crappy.
