Hi,

I have some questions on the Handle for the CT vacs when it is being used just as a handle  not a support for the boom arm.   How tall is it from the floor?  Is the height adjustable?  It looks like it can hold the cleaning tubes. Does it hold other attachments etc.?

Thanks,
Seth

The Handle for the CT will clear 37" when installed.  Doesn't matter if the Boom Arm is installed or not.

The Handle is NOT adjustable in height UNLESS you want to saw a little off the ends...   :o

Yes, it does hold the cleaning tubes -- has two clasps so it could hold two sets of tubes without the Boom Arm installed or one set with.

No, it does not hold other attachments.  But it could hold three items if you did a little modification -- I have this on my to-do list.  If you have the Boom Arm, however, you can place an attachment over each of the tubes for the BA's legs.  I just noticed this last week when I was installing a second bracket (from another handle) and cord holders -- now with an upper and lower set of cord holders I can wrap/unwrap the cord without having to bend down.  Wonderful!!!

Corwin,

Do you have to have the handle installed to put on the boom arm? Or is there a work-around to save the $68 and attach the boom without it?

No, you will need the handle.  You can see how it all goes together in Dan's Boom Arm Review.

Okay, here's a shot of the vac's new mod:

Corwin, LOVE the idea!  An alternative to purchasing a whole CT Handle kit is to purchase the 454736 "Tube support (CT-HANDLE)" from Festool USA for $19.60 + $10 shipping.  It contains everything that comes with the CT Handle kit, but the metal tube handle; all the plastic parts including the bolts and nuts to mount it.  I had to order it directly from Festool USA since my dealer couldn't find the part number.  Festool USA confirmed it could not be "seen" by dealers, and they have asked Germany to add it to the list of dealer-available items.

You will also need one of the 452837 "Cable Hook" kits, for $7.10.  It comes with a pair of the cable hooks, so don't order 2 kits like I did... ::)

Howdy Festoolgolfer

I had to call Festool USA and order the 454736 Tube Support over the phone.  It was shipped out of Santa Barbara and arrived the next day.  :o

As you have discovered, the Tube Support is nowhere to be found on the Festool web site, but Germany has been asked to rectify that issue.

After you have it at the height you like, you'll need to drill a hole through the tube (both left and right sides) to keep the bracket from sliding down the tube.  There's plenty of hardware to accomplish this, and you will have a few left over.  I like it at the height where after winding the cord around the hooks, the cord plug ends up being right next to a hook so it can be pressed into the retention clip.  No dangling cord ends.  Very clean looking.  ;)

Merry Christmas!

Just curious which CT you have? Got a CT-26 and wonder if it's possible to do the same mod?
