Hi all

I'm new here and a a few weeks ago I made the mistake of buying a hkc 55.
Imho best tool I've ever spoilt myself with and its left me wondering why I never crossed over to the dark side sooner.

It also has me thinking about things like a Domino and Rotex 150. However, I build things over weekends as  a diyer, hobby, stress relief from my day job.
Down here in South Africa the CT17E extractor is readily available and I know that proper extraction is very important for the Rotex and Domino.
Would the CT17E be sufficient for the 2x tools I mentioned and the amount of dust it would have to handle?
I also read that it might be a good idea to replace the 27mm hose with a 36mm hose?

My current Karcher unit has a power tool outlet but its hose is 35mm instead of 36mm and its "universal" tool connection isn't so universal after all. Hindsight is 20/20 after all.

Appreciate any insight

you might be better off to change the hose on your vac for either this Karcher or a Festool 27mm hose:

Thanks for the tip but unfortunately I'm not using one of Karchers industrial vacs but their MV6 Premium which isn't listed on the UK site unfortunately.

It came with the following 35mm hose included:https://www.kaercher.com/uk/accessory/3-5-m-suction-hose-extension-28630010.html

The 27mm Karcher hose isn't listed as being compatible with my vac. I'm not sure if a Festool hose would connect either.

And then a 1m hose and power tool attachment:https://www.kaercher.com/uk/accessory/vacuum-kit-for-power-tools-28631120.html

That 1m hose is actually very, very thin in reality and occasionally comes loose too when sanding.

I'm not a big fan of Karcher. Their industrial stuff seems ok, though I never worked with it, but it looks like quality.

Their hobbyist stuff is cheap crap. All a bunch of thin plastic buckets. I have owned that short tool adapter mentioned above, it was a very flimsy thing and not pleasant to work with.

Changing a hose or find some adapter for the Karcher is of course the cheap solution, which you could do if you want to. I'm not a fan of the cheap solution or I would not have invested so much money in expensive Festool stuff or other quality brands.

The CT17 is a very decent vac to use with tools and I would opt for this one over the other solutions mentioned in this thread. Its suction is sufficient for any hand power tool. The 27 mm hose it comes with fits all Festool tools and is sufficient.

Getting a 36 mm hose extra is certainly adviseable, but not required for use with power tools. It does improve suction on some of the bigger tools though. But not on the Domino and Rotex you have, in fact the 36 mm hose doesn't even fit them, you need the 27 mm hose for that. The 36 mm hose does help very much with clean up like vacuuming the floor, because the 27 mm hose is not that good with that. Too narrow and clogs easily.

Thanks for the feedback and confirmation that the CT17 will be fine for hand held power tools Alex.
