CT22 & router table?

I have the CT22 with the standard hose.  I just bought the new ProMAX (by Bench Dog) cast-iron router table that replaces an extension wing on my table saw.  The fence has a dust-port for a 2-1/2" hose.  My Festool hose is too small.

Should I get the larger 2-1/2" Festool hose?  Or will an adapter work?  I can't imagine that a router table puts out any more chips then using a router handheld with the smaller hose & vac.

Hi!!

If you try to use the standard hose I believe you'd be very unhappy... this will plug way to easy with the larger chips.  I think it would work OK with the CT 22 & a larger hose.  Not perfect, but OK... more a function of how well the Bench Dog table funnels the chips to the vacuum port.  My guess is it would work better with a larger shop vacuum system with higher CFM flow.  But again this is "my guess""....

If I was doing this... my major concern would be how fast the vacuum bags would fill given the larger chip size.

I think it's worth checking it out... really no down side as the larger hose will be great for larger rough cleanup around the shop.

I think you made a great choise in the Bench Bog ProMax.  Looks like a top knotch setup that will serve you forever....

Yup, you want the largest Festool hose, and remember to check out the mini-cyclones that make great sense for a router table; Clear Vue, and Dust Deputy (Oneida)

Mike that's a great idea on adding the mini-cyclone to the system.  Completely takes away the cost issue of the bags.

The problem I see with a Dust Deputy (or similar system) is that you lose my favorite feature on the Festool hose -- the rubber "booty."  It grips the tool better than any other hose I've ever used.

TP,

I got the 2" to 2.25" adapter for the Dust Deputy; use my standar Festool hoses with the other end ribbed for tool fitting.

That part works great.

But, I lost my anti-static feature, because the adapter is insulated.

May try a loop of wire around the hose; bypassing the rubber adapter.

Festool offers a double female coupling that allows joinder of the large end of their 27 mm hose to the large end of their 36 mm hose.  That coupling may fit over the outlet from your router table and enable you to quickly connect a festool hose.  The factory supplied couplings on the ends of the Festool hoses can be changed so theoretically it is possible to make up a Festool hose so that either end will fit into the Festool vacuum.

Here is a link to that part number 493047 priced at $12.http://www.festoolusa.com/ProductDetails.aspx?ProdID=493047&ID=6
