CT26, Boom Arm, and Power Cord

Hi all!

I just got my first Festool products!  TS55, CT26, and the boom arm.  Next up is a sander, then router.  But, in the mean time, I've set up the boom arm on the vac, but there doesn't seem to be a way to wrap the cord on the back of the machine since you have to take the stock cord wrap off.  As near as I can tell from the instructions, the vacs used to have an extended cord wrap that the boom arm would click into during set up.  The new models don't have this.  So, is there a way to get a cord wrap on the back of this machine?

Thanks so much!

:)

I don't have the boom for the 26 but I do not believe there is a way to get the card wrap back on.  This really isn't a problem, just wrap the cord up and put it in the hose garage before you put the hose in.

While not a "problem", it's definitely annoying and very un-Festool-like.  One of the few things that I've seen where I thought Festool completely dropped the ball.

Yeah, that's why I'm asking.  I thought I was doing something wrong since this doesn't seem like an issue that Festool would have missed.  Putting the cord in the hose garage is a pain if the TS55 is locked on top where I plan to leave it.  Not a big deal to move, but a pain none the less.  I'll just have to build a bracket.  [big grin]

I don't get it. I have a boom arm, handle and a CT33 and there is a cord wrap.

Did they really eliminate the built in cord wrap on the new version?

As I recall, the new handle for the CT 26/36 uses the mounting holes for the cord wrap.

Only a guess, but maybe the engineers figured that a CT with a Boom Arm would be stationary and not utilize the cord wrap, which would be more applicable for when the CT is transported. I don't know that to be the case, just a hypothesis.

Edit: Reference photo I posted in another thread showing the new handle design.

I have the ct33/e with the boom arm and had not thought of it since with the boom arm it's not real portable anyway.  I just went downstairs and mine will wrap around the rings but it would be tight.  I just loop my cord up around the upperhandle anyway when it needs moving.

Yep.

But it appears in the documentation that came with the boom arm that a cord wrap IS available for the CT26/36 - just NAINA.

???

Now that you mention it, I do remember someone posting a pic with the cord wrapped around the handle.

Thanks everyone!  The cord wrap isn't that big of a deal considering the machine won't move much in my shop, but it would have been nice to be able to wrap things up a bit easier when it does need to travel.  The boom is pretty easy to break down.  It just seems strange that it will take longer to take the TS55 off the top, wrap the cord, and put the TS55 back than it does to take apart the boom for travel.  This isn't anything a little bit of plywood and a few dowels can't fix.  :-)
