OK. i just posted a question about a hose clamp on ask a question. Now I have a big gripe. . Got my new, 6 hours boom arm on my less than 24 hours old ct36, new festool 36mm antistatic hose, hooked up to my brand new week old Kapex. Got the boom arm installed. Went to cut, dust all over. The CT36 didn't turn on in auto. I turned it on in manual, it goes on for 2 seconds then shuts off. It won't stay on. So I am not in a good mood right now. The Woodcraft I got it from is an hour away and I can't get there to return before they close after my work until Saturday. I decided to "upgrade" from my trusty fein turbo I. The thought of taking the whole vacuum and boom assembly apart.....depressing..... I just purchased within the last 30 days, 55req, ct36, of1400, domino 500, domino 500 kit, of1400 kit, clamps, mft3 to join my car and a ton of festool rails and accessories . discouraging. Real discouraging.

It's pretty clear you got a broken one, I wouldn't base your opinion on this one unit.
Yes, I understand that it sucks to put it back in the box, but such is life. Festool will pay shipping both ways if you're outside your 30 day return period for warranty repair.

I dont i had my brand new TS75 cut out right in the moddle of ripping a piece of 1/2 plywood today. I have noticed a few other post compaining of the same thing. I was plugged into a clean 20amp circuit and using a CT Midi.
I am also buying a whole shop of Festool tools and i cant say that i dont worry how durable these tools really are.

Well, the mystery deepens. I just took the whole boom whole boom assembly apart and off the vacuum. I was counting the parts and getting ready to pack it up. Wife plugs it in and now it stays on. So now I am perplexed. Can the boom arm screw anything up? Is there any kind of make it or break it on the vacuum that can be affected by the boom arm? My guess it will go back and returned unless there is something I don't know about

Since the boom arm and handle mount to the collection canister, just take the motor housing back and leave your boom arm assembled. Just make sure you remove the support bracket from the motor housing that you (presumably) installed to it.
Out of curiosity, is it shutting down only in Auto mode, or is it also happening in manual mode? When it does shut down, does the Kapex still run? (I don't have an answer for you. I'm just curious.)

I took the unit back and exchanged it. No questions asked. The manager tested it and it didn't happen again. He called the festool rep and I talked with him. It's like your car that acts up except when you bring it to the mechanic. Then you find yourself stuck on the road. I didn't want that to happen or wait for every time I use it will it kick off. I was remorseful for returning the unit but I want to enjoy my hobby not stress over it. The rep gave me no hassle, just said I could exchange it or call service and see if they had suggestions. 2 days old, I exchanged. At least I have experience the product is backed by festool.
