Hello all,

I recently purchased my first Festool items.

Part of my purchase was the CT 48 and the M0114 Boom arm set.  According to the catalog these two should be compatible.  However when I got home and started assembling the boom arm set I realized  that the mounting holes on the boom arm do not match with the corresponding mounting points on the vacuum.

My question is regarding the actual compatibility.  I realize the magazine was printed before the CT 48 was available.  Has something changed since the printing?  Are the two items actually not compatible?
If the answer is no, my follow up question would be is there a boom arm set that is planned for release soon that will work with the CT 48 or am I better off getting the CT 36 and keeping this boom arm set?

The other items I purchased include the TS 75, 2 x LR32 1400mm guide rails, Domino joiner and assorted dominos in a systainer, RO 150, and a few other accessories.

Thanks,

Daniel

Daniel,

It should work just fine with the CT 48.  Either send a PM to Shane and see if he can offer some assistance or wait till Monday and call Festool.
The only difference between the CT 26, 36 and 48 are the tubs.  All the other parts are the same.

I thought they were the same also, but then upon closer inspection I noticed that the 48 vac is also an inch wider than the other 36 or 26 vac.  Perhaps this is messing it up.  In fact, even the contour of the accessory storage mount does not match the contour of the back of the vacuum.

It could also be that I am just missing something completely obvious.

Thanks,
Daniel

An inch wider?  Now you've got me curious as to what's going on.  It's not supposed to be wider, just a taller tub. I'll have to check into that, even if it's just for my own knowledge.

The width should be the same so that it takes all of the wheel and axle parts plus the head unit (vac motor) from the 26 and 36.  That's what I was told by them.

Are you possibly using a FastCap tape measure to compare?  That could be the problem.  [wink]

I think that the mounting brackets for the new ctl vacuums are a different size than the older ones like the ct22.

Has anyone else noticed this.

Dan.

Daniel,

Wow!  Great purchase!  I would suggest that you call Festool USA on Monday.  I know that Shane will have sporadic at best internet access for a few days, and your question here might not get noticed.

Shane did post in a thread a week or so ago that there is a way to use the boom arm with the CT-48.

But there is some confusion out there due to the fact that the CT-48 comes standard with a handle in Europe and not here, the data about the units comes from Europe and is used to populate the catalog and the website, etc.

Hang in there and enjoy your new tools!

Peter

I think I remember someone saying that the boom arm connects to the handle, but the handle isn't included with the CT48, so you may have to get the handle to mount the arm.

What is the part number for handle? Is it possible that you've got CT-22/33/44 handle by mistake? The visual difference between two (the old one and new one) is that new one has L-shaped  bracket on the bottom, and old one has plastic bottom, or no bottom at all.
Old style p/n is 452921
new style p/n is 495803

Part number can be found on the carton package.

I will check later for all the related part numbers.

According to the specs on the website and printed catalog the vac is not only wider, but also longer.  The length should not be an issue for what I am doing.

The boom arm set I am using includes the arm, handle, hose extender, etc.  The Handle I am using is the one that comes with the M0114, i believe the part number is 495802, I will double check this later today.   It does have a metal bracket at the bottom.  It is more like three sides of an octagon than an L, but same concept.

Yes, the 22,33 and 26,26 parts are definitely different, and I am not using any of the 22,33 parts.

I am starting to suspect that there was a misprint in the catalog, and this boom arm set is not compatible with this vac.  Perhaps I need to wait for a handle to be released by itself, and then just couple the arm by itself to the handle, not using a kit.

Thanks for all the info,

Daniel

Edit,

According to the box, The Boom arm set M0114 consists of,
Boom Arm - 492753
Tool Holder - 493558
Handle - 495802
Support Bracket - 496780

Thanks again,

Daniel

I checked UK site, and it shows CT-48 bigger than CT-26/36 in all three dimensions. Also it shows old style handle as accessory for CT-48, and new style for CT-26/36.
Shane will clarify it on Monday...

Reviving this..

There's now a separate boom arm kit specifically for the CT48 that includes the proper handle. The 2011/12 catalogue lists item number M0114 as compatible which of course is wrong. You will actually want to get M0124.

Bionicus,

Thank you for the reply.  I should have posted sooner.

You are correct the new part number is M0124.  My local dealer worked with me to get the right part.  I now have a completed CT48 and boom arm kit residing happily in my shop.

Thank you to everyone for the input on this topic.

Daniel
