hello people.
I'm in need of a boom arm for my ctl mini, as far as i know festool don't make one. has any body made one and if you have please help. also can you fit a bigger hose to them the 27mm hose is great but lacks suction on my kapex. spoke to my dealer and they said they don't know if you can fit one which didn't help!

thanks hope you can help

The vac end of Festool hoses are identical and the international shop vac standard.

Of course a Festool 36mm hose will attach to your CTL mini dust extractor as easily as the 27mm AS hose which was part of your Festool deal.

For the Kapex I suggest using a short 36mm hose. Festool sells the 36mm x 3.5m AS hose.

thank for you help. stupid question hows it fit do you use the same 'L' shape fitment which fits into the mini.

No, you use the standard 36mm hose, which will stick straight up on the Mini or Midi. Its a tight fit, but it gets in there.

my poor mans boom arm [big grin]

i need to make something, one day... ive been working 7days a week now for the last 4month

I made a boom for my Midi from plumbing fittings - 40mm waste pipe - which worked OK. The 40mm tube was just dry-fited together with 45° connectors and the hose held on with velcro straps. A short 40mm upright was attached to the back of the vac with pipe clips screwed into the Midi with self-tappers, and a short length of 32mm pipe fitted inside this and made snug with lengths of gaffer tape. The main boom just slotted over this length of 32mm, where it could pivot freely. I've had a rootle around but can't find any pictures of it, sorry.

As I say, it worked OK; trouble was I found that the Midi just wasn't really big or heavy enough to keep it stable - or maybe I just made my boom too tall, lol. Either way I stopped using it pretty quickly

HTH Pete.

This is my mock up version of the boom arm, my first attempt was to fit it to the CT mini, but I found this too unstable, the next version is what you see here. It does work quite well and I've been using it for a month or two, I still make little tweaks and have a few ideas so it doesn't look so chunky.

To check and empty the bag I have made it so that the top lifts off allowing access, the top is just held on with dominos. When I'm really satisfied I will be making the final version.

Hey "speed" ---
Your boom arm sure looks like a patent infringment issue with the Festool design!!!!  [wink]
I am in need of something simple to control my hose on my Midi so this thread is very timely.
Thanks all.
Pete
