Customized T-Loc Handles (3D Printed)

The black plates with green text really look great, wish i had more systainers so i could do a bulk order.

Well, there is a very easy solution for that problem!  There are a number of dealers on the FOG that can put a bunch of new tools, with systainers, in your hands! [eek]

A quick update...

-Some of the orders have already shipped, everyone else will ship tomorrow. If you haven't already, you will receive tracking info from Etsy.

Thanks again everyone!

Thanks Ben for the CAD models... I tried printing one but it was way to small, will upload comparison photos when I get back to the office. Are u using some kind off scale factor when you print?
I print ABS with 3 shells, 40% infill and 0.25 layer height...

Strange... I'm not using a scale factor, and the print settings I'm using are similar to yours only I'm running it through Slic3r / Repetier Host not Makerware. I have access to a Replicator 2, so I'll try and do a test this week.

You can see in the photos / videos coming off my RepRap the faceplates are a very tight fit.

Check out Youtube for 3 videos Ben recently posted on production and installation of the new handle plates.  Quite interesting and helpful.

I'm thinking tape or glue on the ones I ordered.  I would not trust a pressure fit to remain in place long term!

This is a really inventive idea for both the identity inserts as well as the cleats.

Double sided tape, low/high temp hot glue should all keep things in place. I would't recommend foam tape as the thickness will prevent the faceplate from fitting flush.

If you use high temp glue or really high strength tape, be careful if you decide to remove the faceplate. Prying them off by hand can delaminate the 3d print. I've been using a putty knife to get them off, working the sharp edge back and forth to help cut through the glue.

Ben

I used hot glue with a very small drop - maybe 1/8" in the middle of the T-loc latch handle and it seems to hold well.

They look great.  Will upload some photos in a bit!  Great work, fast shipping and a cool idea!

Ben,

Received mine yesterday, they look great.  I installed a couple without glue or tape, I think they will definitely stay in place just using them in the workshop.  If going mobile, I would prolly just add a small dab of hot glue for insurance.

One thing for certain, the systainer labels clearly stand out and you only have to look once to immediately spot the tool you need!

Thanks, great idea!

Very cool! And you stole my cleat idea! Have one designed in 3D (a little different) but haven't got around to printing it.

BTW Ben, you should be patenting (copyrighting?) this. Festool should buy the rights and start shipping sustainers with this already in place. Mucho better than the labels that won't stick.

All USA orders have been shipped.

Added USPS Priority mail shipping to the UK and Germany.

Thanks everyone!

Off topic but not...can you print a snap-in insert for the track saws blade screw access hole? Right now I just put tape over it. It helps with dust extraction with it covered.

Great idea! I'd love one for the TS75. Can it be clear?

Another badly needed TS75 accessory is a splinter guard that is designed specifically for the TS75 instead of just using the TS55 splinter guard that doesn't work when cutting thinner stock.

I think all the TS75 owners would be interested.

Agreed. And everyone with a TS75 would need several - a natural repeat market!
