CXS Compact Cordless Drill - Post your questions here!

so, you guys get an extra battery in base set. And you still get it cheaper [mad]

Hey, your ancestors had a chance to get in on the ground floor of the new world, apparently they decided to pass, your lose. [tongue]

Shane, I'm glad you guys seen the light and decided to get the pricing out to us sooner rather than later.  We still have the auto-stop brush question out there.

On Festool's power tools they use auto stop brushes.  Before these brushes completely ware out they stop the motor preventing any damage.  Just replace the brushes and your good to go.  I'll let Shane ask Lester if the drills use this same type of brush.

$25 savings on the right angle chuck when bought as a set. So, $75 if purchased separately.

Just to be clear since I'm sure someone will try to save a few bucks and buy the CXS right angle attachment for one of the full size drills, they aren't compatible, right?

Correct, this was mentioned earlier in the thread. You cannot use the eccentric or right angle chucks for C/T-series drills with the CXS. The CXS does not have the same FastFix engaging mechanism.

Edit: And, I'll check on the motor question.

Yes, but that technically doesn't answer the question, does the CXS right angle attachment work with the full sized drills?  Seems like I'm splitting hairs here but I'm just trying to get to the bottom of cross compatibility between drills.

Brice,

The CXS right-angle adapter won't work with the other drills. The 'regular' right angle adapter won't work with the CXS. It works both ways. Or, more accurately, doesn't.

Sorry, misread the question then. Like JRB, said it won't work.

That is brilliantly hilarious!

I can vouch for it's durability.  It has had numerous 4' falls onto other tools and concrete this week.

Things you can use on All the drills-  Keyless chucks and centrotec chucks.

90 degree chuck will only work on the cxs.  It does not screw on like the C and T drills.

It connects just like the centrotec chuck does.

[embarassed] I ashamed to admit I forgot about Michael_MA's great video on the CXS.

Yup, I actually watched that again earlier today. Many thanks to Michael for the video. You can also watch the "official" video from Festool and some of the additional shorts that show various features and functionality that I've added to our YouTube page.

It was hard to tell from the video, but is the main shaft magnetized at all?

Looks like when some of the smaller bits were stuck into the main shaft, they kind of "popped" in, as if the shaft is magnetized.

If the shaft is not magnetic, do smaller bits tend to fall right out of the shaft if the drill is pointed down?

Jeff, the Centrotec chuck comes with a magnetic bit holder. So, yes, it's magnetized and keeps the bits held in. We also have an optional bit holder, the BHS 65 which was recently reviewed on here and it has a locking mechanism that completely prevents the bit from coming.

That video review by Michael-MA really shows how compact the CSX is. Very nice drill.

Curses to all these YouTube videos. My tool budget is not keeping up with my tool lust!

After just watching that video on the CXS, the first one, who thinks Festool USA should stick with the much "cooler" Euro Techno from the European vids rather than the cheesey nintendo rock on the USA videos!?

You guys are going to have to convince Christian to change the music. Good luck.  [big grin]

Now, back to talking about the CXS...

I vote for Wumpscut.

I spent a day on a 10' ladder helping my electrician rough in a 1200 square foot room remodel.

I like the belt clip.
