CXS on set...

very good question ken.

it all depends how high up the ladder you are.

i was installing gothic handles to windows and doors.
they still had the price tag on them.
200 dollars each, and i must have installed 20-30 handles.

by the way, when i finished this job, i walked away with the same tools i brought on.
nothing more.

justin.

Fascinating stuff Justin...now I'm trying to figure out the movie..!   [huh]

they do have "Set sales" after the film is over for stuff like hardware or items purchased for the movie. Key props normally don't go on sale. I've seen guys take fancy windows we built and stuff like that. sometimes any D grade lumber is up for grabs. But alot of it goes in the trash. Some cool stuff on those sets justin posted that would be worth a pinch but keep in mind most of this isn't built to last. Stonework is plastered over styrofoam alot of things are put together with glue and wide crown staples, and alot of it is so huge you have no where to put it.

Thanks for posting those pics BTW a good representation of what we do and some stunning sets to boot.

Cool thread.More interesting than the films! Thanks for posting Justin and ghostfist.

Ya half the time i don't really like the films I work on but it is fun to build them. BTW got in trouble today for taking pics on set......I tried guys. Probably sold another 2 cxs though

That's what i've been saying.

Wasn't a big deal, I thought everyone was out, someone just said "No taking pictures on set" reality is everyone is doing it

dont get your self in trouble anyway. especially after i asked you to do it [wink]

Currently working on "Total Recall" starring Colin Farell. This is an enormous production here! Really one I wish I could show you pictures on but alas, I'm bound by contract. I'd say there's easily 100 carps on this set alone and we're working on making the pieces for what is going to end up being a massive futuristic elevater through the center of the earth power station. I know you can't picture that because one doesn't exist but believe me when i tell you its awesome!! The CXS is in the spotlight on a daily basis!! The right angle chuck has made assembly a snap! I've been called "Inspector Gadget" for using it as there's an immediate solution for almost any difficult area to get a screw or a pilot hole into. I don't know how many times experienced carps have gone off looking for their drills because they're too heavy to carry on their belts all day while my cxs is constantly on hand.

Still loving the little bastard just thought I'd keep you posted.

Good to hear.  I love that little guy too, its so rare to have a drill on your belt that isn't pulling your pants down all day long.

Can't wait to see the movie either.

Jon

the elevator sounds like a cool project ghostfist.

i might have to buy this little drill myself, based on the feedback i am reading on the fog.
between the cxs and the new festool impact driver due to be released in 3-4 weeks i will have everything covered.
it sure is handy when you can hang them off your tool belt and not even notice the extra weight.

maybe the cxs will get special billing in the end credits!
"no festools were harmed during the making of this movie"

hows that occidental belt going?
i found the australian version over here.  they are called buckaroo.
around the same price and very high quality.

justin.

loving the belt, I get a lot of comments on it. slapped on the hip buddies recently and it makes the thing that much more comfortable. I have no problem wearing it loaded for ten hours a day. The CXS chuck attachments even have their own spot. Using the right angle a lot again today and some good quick switching between a tapered/counter sink bit in the jacobs and screwing with the centrotec. people manufacturing the same thing as i werent bothering with pre drilling as it was too much hassle for them but the cxs made it a breeze and i of course didn't split everything I was screwing into like some people....

is there a link for the belt you picked up? would like to check it out

sweet gear would like to know more about that tool bag. they don't show much on the website

I think if you find the equivalent of Occidental Leather over there, it will be called, Oriental Leather.
