Upping the ante a bit from my earlier post of simply wishing for dedicated Pro-grade CMS machines after seeing the new edgebander.

What I would like to see are dedicated CMS-machine modules for routing, sawing, planing and jointing and bobbing spindle sanding.

Anything that has height or angle adjustment I would like to see a flush inset digital control panel and info screen on the top of the insert plate with adjustability of 0.1mm or 0.1 degree adjustability (or even finer if mechanically possible). This way the machine modules could be built without cumbersome knobs and wheels under the CMS-table and could be optimally packed in a solid shell with internal dust collection ducts to simplify DC connectivity to a single 50mm festool hose that is split internally.

One would expect to be able to repeatably set (maybe even have a few preset-memories for standard heights) the height/thickness/angle on the control panel and have the electronics do the moving when setting is ready to be processed. i.e. First set the saw blade height to from the keyboard / touch screen to 15mm and press go -> machine does the adjustment and then have microadjust up/down buttons to manually fine tune the height with the 0.1mm stepping.

Also some automated features like
- 'raise the routing head for bit change and lock the head',
- 'lower the router to zero depth after bit change and unlock the head',
- 'raise saw blade to last set height'
- 'lower saw blade into table to rest position',
- 'angle saw blade to 90-degrees/45-degrees',
- 'set planing/jointing depth to zero'
- 'angle joiter fence to 90/45-degrees'
- 'retract jointer fence into module'
- etc.

at one-button push away would be very cool.

And of course the expectation would be to have these tool-inserts cost about the same as maybe a TS75-CMS set (with 75mm or more cut capacity), OF2200-CMS set (with similar power rating), etc.

You may as well add voice control ... but ONLY for metric instructions [big grin]

Reiska, I think that this is a cool idea. If only I could have gone back and looked at a history of what I did to make these miniature crown mouldings on my CMS...next time, I will take detailed notes using my height and depth gauges.
