Hey everyone,

I made this quick video for some others on a different thread but though to post it here to field questions on the Precision Clamp Mount.

I am a fan of all of my Precision Dogs parts and have had this puppy (pun intended) for quite a few months and lately have answered a lot of questions so I figured a quick review is warranted. I really like it. It is simple to use, with or without a knob securing it.

See for yourselves.

Cheers. Bryan.

Since I got my precision dogs, I have become interested in these clamping devices. I like the design and I'm trying to decide which auto adjust clamp(s) to get. The 2 players seem to be Kreg and Bessey. They both have their pros and cons. The Bessey's cost about $20 and the Kreg are about $35. From the videos I've seen, the Kreg seems to be Cadillac of the 2 brands and I like the way the business end (the angle of the pressure foot) seems to meet the object being held. To come down squarely with Bessey's it appears the pressure foot would need to be adjusted depending on the thickness of the material. I'm interested in anybody's experience or opinions.

I think you know my vote!  ;)

I really like the Kreg ones in my video. Every once and a while you can find an Amazon warehouse deal.

I didn't like the Bessey's as much. I have quite a few k body clamps that I really like but for surface holding this setup is great.

Cheers. Bryan.

PS: I have seen these on Amazon before, they are definitely inexpensive and I have never tried them but it may work for someone.

Also, I did want to say that I really like the 6" Kreg as it gives a large circle of space to work with.

Kreg

I already had a Kreg automaxx, but had it on a 4" piece of all thread and a knob from Rockler. I like the clamping plate much better.

I did a demo yesterday of the Domino at my local Festool Dealer, and that set up would have been great for that. I decided to go in the shop and see what I  could come up with. This is my alternative. Not as nice as the Seneca Plate, but works with the Kreg Clamps. Just used a Woodpecker knob, Washer, 2" bolt and a 20mm round spacer 5/8" long.

I personally like the 6" one. It has a nice long reach and can get in the middle of a fairly wide board.

The setup is easy and using it is a dream. Enjoy fellas!

Cheers. Bryan.

I ordered 2 of the clamp mounts (Precision) and I couldn't decide on clamp size so I ordered a Kreg 3" and a 6". I'll probably end up with another of each and that should cover all the bases. I came across another YouTube video which demonstrated the superiority of the Kreg over the Bessey clamps. The bottom line was that the Bessey's were not quite as good in maintaining a constant pressure as the Kregs. Just an FYI.
