Hello Festool fanatics. I'm new to the blog but have been a fan for awhile. I've been putting together my own lil' small space shop and filling it with Faster Easier Smarter tools when they come on Craigslist in my area. I've got the OF1010 and "kinda" like it... but my go to small router is the Dewalt 611 because it's easy setup and small size (and darn easy visibility of the bit). That's why I went ahead and called up Festool and ordered a couple Plug-it connectors, Part #489742 (Price $5.20) and Frankensteined a couple of tools I would often use and brought them into the Festool family. I'm attempting to upload some pics showing the conversion. It was easier than I initially imagined and I hope this helps anyone interested in doing the same.

Again this is my first posting so hopefully the pictures come out in a good informative order.

You can get the different plugs here, they are Festool Plug It -replacement, repair parts.
https://www.toolsforworkingwood.com/store/item/FS-SOC.XX

I have to say for some tools it is still better to use a pigtail than to use these parts. that way you just clip the cord. If you do it right its simple to put back for warranty work. On my new Bosch D Handle the  jig it has a cool round moveable ext at the tool end and using a pigtail  lets me keep that function.

For some tools you might have to Dremel the plug it. For other tools you just cant do it at all becasue you cant get a nice tight attachment internally. Remember, you need to twist that plug it, if it isn't a rock solid connection in that tool you are far better off using a pigtal.

There are only about a dozen choice there dovetail.

It'd be really helpful if Willie narrowed it down to what he use on those  for posterity.

I believe he used the RO 150(PS300) one, dont quote me on it though. If he doesn't  answer Ill dig through my boxes.  I have 4 different type, only the ends of the wires were different if I remember correctly.

That one just has a bit longer leads, its used on the ETS 125 and DS 400 an LS 130.

I think its the 489742 though

I went to the Ekat system online and then called Festool directly, I asked if it would take care of my situation and they said, "yup"... they were right.

You really called Festool to ask if you could buy a plug-it socket to modify a tool of another brand and they said "Sure, no problem"?  [blink]

When I have a new tool, every time I bought plug it female.

Only one thing to do. Change cables. No cutting.

I agree that's best for some  tools, but on certain tools there is  no cutting and on a couple tools its matter of unscrewing two screws and adding the plug it wires from the replacement part. It such a nice install when you can get the plug it  within the tool just like the Festools. It's worth opening the tools to check.

As one person stated if you cant put it back as it was you may void the warranty, cutting the cord isn't going to void the warranty, that can always be put back.

Plus, those plug its pigtails cost 40.00, the units only 5.50 or so.

Dovetail65:
Every electric hand tool(max. 1400W) in Europe is possible to install this cable.
I have Fein FMM, Narex corded drill + jigsaw(rebranded Trion) and another.

Warranty - no problem :))

:( :( ahhh...

I made a similar - but reversible - change to a Makita RT0701C Palm Router, based on a more generic plugit adapter.
There was already a 3d print specific part floating around, but I could not find the source.
Same Festool replacement part #489742 is used, but its price has gone up to $8.20!
