DIY ceiling mounted boom

cool idea and I have a caster already sitting outing the garage to make this work.

Do you have plans for your table?

I like this idea and the OPs install. Nice work.
I'm thinking of building something similar and have been noodling how to make a swivel joint for the vacuum from 1-1/2 PVC. I want to place the vac over against the wall and run PVC from the vac up the wall to the ceiling then across to the pivot point of the boom. From there the swivel joint in the PVC would let the boom swing 360 without the hose getting twisted up. I was thinking of using a lazy-susan ring and the pipe would drop down in the center into the swivel joint, then travel out on the boom which could be wood or maybe use EMT conduit as the boom arm with a 90 looking down and connect the flex hose at the end.

Hard to explain but I have a clear picture of it in my head. If I was any good with SketchUp I' d put something up here to illustrate it and you'd understand what I am envisioning better.

I'm thinking if I can't find a cheap swivel joint of the right size then make one from a PVC 90 ELL and a PVC service ELL. Inside the socket of one end of the 90 ELL cut a groove for an O-Ring, then slip the service ELL in the socket and it will let it turn and should keep it fairly tight as far as maintaining vacuum goes.

I need to do something like this. The only issue I'd have with your setup is getting the hose over to my kapex (maybe not), or my router when on the routing table.

Sorry, it was only a quick sketch which disappeared after. I can take pics if you like. The height is matched to a stack of sustainers mounted to the roll board.
