Do you Festool your car??

It's a Spyker - made in Holland.  Aluminum and limited to like 24 of each.  Somebody has bucks.

Drew -

You missed a spot - rear wheel well, right above the tire ;)

Awesome job - amazing the amount of effort - 12 hours to do that.  I detail my car with Festool, but I spend maybe an hour a week, and then perhaps four hours twice a year.  But then, it's not quite a Spyker either.

Great looking car - thanks for the pics -

The Spyker was fun to work on!!! This car really didn't require much in the way of correction. So, a minor run with the Rotex was plenty. While I used another machine for some tight spots, it was nice to run the Rotex around this car. Sometimes the size of the Rotex makes it a bit cumbersome but, this car was wide open and made for easy use of the Rotex!!

That car is just so unusual in every way; any idea of the car's price (I am sitting down ;))?

Bob,

It's just like any luxury item - if you have to ask...   ;D

I now equate items in terms of Festool units.    A new truck might be 20 kapexs.  A piece of furniture - a Rotex.  Kind of like metric.  Eliminates fractions and 0's.  Of course my wife says I'm a nut and she refuses to allow me to paint anything green in the house.  If she goes on like this her Xmas present might be the equivalent of a 5 pack of CT-22 bags.   [crying] [crying]

Oh, Lord knows, I think I have stretched the budget with my Audi Q5. ;D  I was just curious.

Now that you mention this she did buy some Cutco knives not that long ago....  I think that it corresponded to when I came back from training and talked non stop obout Festool for about three days and showed her my list of future purchases.  Why did she have to buy so many knives though?  [eek] [eek] [eek]

Looks like for around $269K you can pick up a 2005 model, Spyker Listing

Steve,

They neglected to mention that the new model includes a windmill under the hood and a dozen tulip bulbs in the rear window.

They are also considering a Festool blue and green version that will include its very own large systainer, no garage required.  There are tray tables for the back seat, perforated of course.

Peter,

They must have had a sale, one set of knives = 15 pack of platin.

Almost forgot the best shots!!!!

Drew,

The pictures of the work you do and have posted are incredible.  To say you do great work is definitely an understatement.  I am also sure that the pictures of the vehicles you have posted do not do them justice.

I am sure that the equipment you use helps, but I also have to believe that it is your skill and knowledge that put it all together.

Thank you so much for sharing your artistry with all of us these past few months.

Neill

P. S. Since I live and work in the Denver area, maybe one day I could swing by your shop and you could give me a quote on detailing my Gremlin.  [wink]  [embarassed]

mmmmm, Gremlin!!! Just didan AMX Jav. Love the AMC!!!

Thanks for your praise!! While experience does play in, as with everything, tools make all the difference!! Ergonomically, th festool line has been great!!! You would be surprised at how quickly one can tire of an uncomfortable hand position or manipulating heavy, unbalanced machine along the vertical panels of a car. The Festools are smooth and capable, not constantly overheating, etc.

Love the opportunity to work on the Gremlin!!

My wife got the Q5 as well and we both really like it a lot.

Drew,

Fantastic work. How do you stay focused on cleaning up one car for 16 hours? I have a BIG black silverado SS and I get tired just washing it. You are going to have to tell us all about the 2 Bugatti Veyrons you have to work on. Inquiring minds need to know! Does your insurance company know you have 2 of them at the shop?  HAHAHAHA.  $3-4 million dollars. Ka-ching.

Keep up the great work.

Dave

Dave,

Thanks for the comments. First, staying on one car for hours isn't too bad, if you like the cars you're servicing. For me, it's very cool to be hanging with these cars since, unless I win the lotto, I won't be buying one any time soon!! Ins. Co. doesn't really make many inquiries into the cars I service. I have a $3m umbrella and, so long as I'm not driving them for pick up or delivery, I'm okay!! And, 1 Veyron down - took the cliet two weeks to pick it up after being completed, another to go after the first of the year!!!
