Do You want to buy some 20 mm PVC Pipe Bench Dogs for your MFT?

I ordered the 36? Incra incremental trackhttp://incra.com/product_jfc_tracks.htm
from a French distributor, which was simpler for me.  This dimension perfectly
fits the MFT 1080 in its long direction, as you can see it in the thread pointed by Steve (Qwas).
My supplier sold me a package made of track and the shop stop which appears on the web page above.

The 52? track could also be used. It was not available from my suppler, but I'm planning to order
it from Woodpecker so I can build a longer similar fence across my two joined MFTs

No problem to install that track on any side of the MFT. You just have  to adjust the base accordingly.

What I like the most in my setup is the guaranteed squaring and the accuracy of course, but
also the handy tool storage it offers. using the holes to insert clamps, caliper, combination
square, pencils, dogs, etc ..  I ended up making  more holes in the base j using the following
hole pattern

                O  O  O  O  O  O  O

I forgot to say that this is the only track I tried, and it did very well.

The very nice thing about it is that the elongated holes available on the track
are nicely located and exactly match the MFT side extrusion upper T-track.
(see the pics in my post).

I just had to use longer bolts than those coming the Incra standard
package, since they have to go across both the track and the base.
I reused the Incra provided elongated nuts, shown in the pics.

Thank you for the explanation, did you just use wood screws to hold the Incra track in place on the MDF?
I assume you used a router to cut out the 20 mm holes on the MDF fence support piece.
Why is the 20 mm pvc pipe so hard to get?

I'm planning to make cuts down the long side of my MFT, so my fence will just hang off the left edge...shouldn't be an issue, correct?

How are you planning to get addresses and money from everyone who ordered the 20 mm pvc pipes?

Thanks!

Most of your questions can be answered by reading his thread, MFT guide rail alignment & Incra tracks.

The 20 mm pipe is hard to come by because the USA uses 3/4 inch or 1 inch pipe, not metric.

After the pipe arrives to me, a Private Message will be sent asking for payment. If you pay with PayPal, I will be supplied with the shipping info through PayPal. (PayPal will allow you to pay with a credit card. You will need to have an existing PayPal account for this to work.) If you pay with a personal check or money order, you will need to provide that information to me with your payment.

I realize I'm posting kinda late here, but would you have enough left to be able to send me 4'?  If so, just let me know how best to pay you and I'll pm you my address.

Thanks,
Keith

I'm not sure what I can at the moment. Let me get the pvc here and distributed. If some is left, I will get back with you. I will try my best to see what I can get for you.

Thanks!

I would like to buy about 5 feet.  The specific short lengths and total lengths I will leave up to you to facilitate easy shipping.

Please let me know the total price and methods of payment.

I have been following this thread for  a few weeks now, but since I don t have a MFT I was not much interested.  Just for kicks I was browsing my favorite industrial supplier McMaster.  Guess what McMaster has the 20 mm PVC pipe available.  McMaster p/n is 45435K91 costs $ 10.80 for a 8 foot length.  Dont know if the tolerance on the OD is good enough, but another option for those that have not taken up Steve on his generous offer.

Thanks Vijay.

Nice research there. It's good to know we have a another source. I don't know what they will charge for shipping, or if you can pick it up from their warehouse.

As an update, I'm expecting the pipes to arrive any day this week.

Shipping is usually quite cheap at McMaster.  If your company does any amount of business with McMaster, shipping is overnight and almost free.  Even otherwise they are very reasonable.

When you get your French pipes could you measure the OD and report your results here.  Thanks

I sure will and I will check the I.D. also. I will report the results back to here.

OD = 20.03 mm
ID  =  17.30 mm

I filled some of these with foam, so they resist stronger to cross diameter compression,
for instance when using those pegs to make a reference square
corner (2 vertical , 2 horizontal) for clamping instead of makingf/using
the wooden arms as suggested by Jerry Work.

Our pipe has arrived. The OD is 20 mm, .79 inches, or just a hair over 25/32 inch. ID is 17 mm, .66 inches, or just a hair over 21/32 inch. I'm using a caliper so if you want something more exact, use mhch's numbers above.

I will send a PM this afternoon/evening to those who have signed up concerning paying and shipping.

Everybody should have received a PM concerning payment. If not, let me know.

If anyone is looking for items that fit inside of the 20 mm PVC pipe, try "ClosetMaid" closet rod caps, and closet rod connectors. Should be carried in most DIY stores.

I have tried these on some pipe still sitting here. It fits some pipes a little loose and others very tight. Worse case, you might glue them on with some epoxy.

The Caps have an outside diameter of 1 1/4 inches, the Connectors can join 2 pipes.

I completely forgot about the purchase.  I'll get a check to you this weekend.  Sorry about that!  I'll include a late fee.

What are the pound signs?

Hi all,

I ordered two pieces of 20mm from McMaster-Carr early this week.  They came yesterday.  They are marked 20 x 1.9mm but actually measure about 0.2mm larger in diameter than that so are a tight fit in the 20mm holes in my MFTs and MFT3s.  Can't yet say how useful they will be or if the 1.9 wall is stiff enough to use for jigs.  Cost was $10.05 each plus $14 shipping to 97531.  Part number is 45435K91.  More later if and as I get time to do some experimenting.

Jerry
