Does anyone use their MFT in this sort of configuration?

Just now an idea popped into my head for an alternate MFT setup which could cut pieces to width that are too long to set up in the normal cross cut configuration.  I didn't actually use this, just set it up to look at it, but I used a pair of qwas dogs against the back of the guide rail to position the two rail ends on the short sides of the MFT instead of the long sides, so the rail guide is parallel to the normal fence.

I was wondering if anyone has used a configuration like that and is it useful in real life (as opposed to just in theory)?

Definitely useful, I have done similar setups for that specific need. If anything, my biggest wish-list item for the MFT is that it was about 54" long (working area) instead of around 45". The caveat being that portability is not an issue for me, and that a longer MFT would perhaps not be desirable for those who use it onsite.

I have one mft set up like that except I replaced the rail with the holy rail, we use it that way with the LR32 system
