I wasn't going to announce these yet, because we have some more development to do....But after reading another thread on the forum discussing imperial height labels for other Festool products, I thought this might be an appropriate time.

We're developing Imperial fence offset gauges for the DF500 and DF700.  Possibly a UK version as well if there is enough interest.    The DF500 scale will likely be the first one we release - but before we do I want to make sure we're offering the right offsets. If everyone could take my survey on which offsets / board thicknesses they would like, it would be helpful.    I have a survey here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1FxGuh9-oBgAdiotN3o5SEwHseugKPnRv439565fgYIU/viewform

Right now the DF500 version has four settings (but we should be able to do up to six).  1/2" 5/8" 3/4" and 1" (all nominal board sizes).

Here's one of our rapid prototypes for a DF500 Imperial Slide (DF700 coming soon as well).

This is just a rapid prototype... the final version [probably] wont be blue, and will have the appropriate imperial markings (1/2" 3/4" etc)

Only green will work properly, any other colour will simply be inaccurate  [wink]

Hi

How about one for the UK, this is something I have thought about since I got my 500 as our sheet goods are not the same sizes as europes.

How about the 700 slide in day glow green  ;)

The part in this photo doesn't have the right 'steps' yet...but I just couldn't resist hitting 'print' on my 3d printer and seeing what it would look like.

Much better - looking a lot more accurate already  [wink]

Are you going to be supplying imperial length dominoes as well, or do you see it being an issue?

Dick

Not depth of plunge (Domino length) , height of fence setting (thickness of work piece).

Are you using some common plywood thicknesses on the scale as well as the usual 1/2", 3/4" etc.? I'd love to see a 3/4" plywood thickness.

I'll order this the day it goes on sale- brilliant idea!

The main one I would like to see changed would be an 18mm pre set the standard metric preset is 20mm

It looks green from here...  [big grin]

The actual slides will have a MUCH better surface finish -- the part Ryan did in green was just some quick fun.

I think (Ryan?) we are open to the actual step increments that most people would like to have.  We could offer something different for UK ply thicknesses but aren't those covered by the Festool original slide?

For some reason the green material I just got for my printer doesn't print very consistently. I might have to send it back.  Other colors work great though.

I would be open to hearing any suggested dimensions (offsets).  Right now the 500 is designed for 1/2, 5/8, and 3/4" nominal.      Also...since there's a reasonable amount of tooling involved, we'll probably release one before the other. I'd be interested in hearing which size is more in demand (df500 vs df700).

DF500 please.

1/2", 5/8", 18mm,  3/4" , 1"

Seth

Df700 here.. Need it to also work with the lower thickness sim to the 500. In for one of the 700's when available

i presume this is going to be aluminium or really durable plastic.

i dont see the need for me for 1/2" and 3/4" because i have the domino plate.
it would be more for sizes in between 1/2" and 1" more towards the 1"

anoth idea i have. make the part that stops this sliding out retractable (like the pins on the old domino) that way you can remove this an put in a deferent one with diferent heights on it
then make 2 or 3 diferent versions will all the diferent heights on them.

or make it like a contour profile gauge. move the plates over and back to set the heights where you want them.

put a threaded hole in the top of the steps and put a bolt in there so the height is adjustable.
