Domino question

i like this.  seems like the best of both worlds (strength, alignment)

I learned the technique from Halfinchshy's video.

I glue in the Dominos into the narrow mortises first, apply glue to the exposed halves of the tenons, and then fit the board with the wider mortises. I tap the boards into alignment as I force them together.

Another good trick is to make some dry fit tenons. I grind off the sides of the tenons and then mark them with a big X. They fit loose enough to allow a dry fit up. The X mark prevents me from using them in the actual glue-up.
 
That makes perfect sense.  I may have to go that way for my island assembly.  Thanks for the tip!
