Domino stop latch interfering with cut

Hi - I had a problem today with my domino 500 and was wondering if others have had this issue.  I wanted to cut two mortises side-by-side in the workpiece.  After I cut the first mortise, I slid the domino over to make my second cut.  I noticed that the alignment was always a bit off.  The second mortise was a little higher than the first.  I finally diagnosed the problem.  The stop latch was falling into the first mortise and making it impossible to register the domino flat to the top of the workpiece.  It seemed like it was pushing it slightly higher, and I couldn't figure out anyway to avoid it.  Does this make sense?  The mortises were about centered in a 1.75" square workpiece.  Thanks for any help.

If you are referring to the black paddles, there is an allen head stop screw on the outside of the machine.  Push in the paddle, set the screw, then they stay out of the way.

Are you referring to the spring loaded stops on either side of the bit? If so, you can push them into the fence and tighten the set screws to prevent them from interfering.

EDIT: Ah, Ken beat me to it!

You can plunge the stops in and use the allen wrench to tighten the set screws, this will keep the stops in the plunge position.  This will prevent the stops from going into the first mortise.

Thanks guys - I saw those set screws but didn't realize that's what they were for.  This helps a lot!

Also thanks and I didn't even ask the question. I guess I just missed that in the manual. The paddles are always getting in the way and causing problems. I find them essentially useless. The next chance I get I will retract them. Thanks again.
