Drill press stand and systainer storage.

Several months ago, I was given a drill press.  It sat on the floor until this weekend, when I had a chance to build a cabinet/cart to put it on.  It also gave me a a place to store sustainers.

Used my 1400 router, domino 500 and new TS55 for the construction.  It is made out of a piece of sheeting (I didn't want to spend $55 on a sheet of good plywood for this). 

I made a small miscalculation.  I originally was going to put the dado for the middle shelf at 630mm from the bottom.  But I started to overthink things and I decided on 635 instead.  The problem this created is that the two sys-2's stacked up are very snug against the top.  If I would have stuck with my 630mm it would have been perfect.

Over thinking a project is something most of us do or have done with similar results or worse [eek]  [big grin]
I think the use of new sheeting for it would be a waste, my pillar drill sits on a base made from offcuts from the roof and a bit of mdf salvaged from some bedroom furniture that got taken out.
I like the usefulness of yours and the castors.

Nice!  Mine is still on my work bench - I was also thinking of a separate stand, but fixed to the wall.  Maybe the castors will be better / more flexible (especially since I found 4 unused ones in a drawer this weekend.).  But my garage floor is not very level...

I did something similar with a mobile base under my drill press. You can't tell from the photos, but it's a floor standing model:http://imgur.com/goHf5gm

The drawers are dewalt t-stack, the small ones are the perfect size for drillbits and other miscelaneous things you want while drilling. You can take the drawers off if I ever need to drill something really long.
