Well I did it - I broke down and bought a TXS today. Wow, this is the drill/driver I think I have been looking for. I tried them out in the store before Christmas and fell in love with the TXS. I already have a C12 and a T15 but the TSX seems like the best balanced drill of all of them and the weight was a bonus. I tried the CXS and it just did not feel as balanced to me. It does have a better belt hook in my opinion, but other than that, the TXS seems just about perfect in all other areas. Yes it is a little taller than the CXS, but other than that the narrow size and small form factor are awesome. I was amazed by the power as well - I think the numbers Festool prints are wrong. Just some random test of screws and different bits, but this thing is impressive.

[member=6605]ScotF[/member] I blame you...

Been noodling buying a Festool cordless for lo these many months, trying to come up with a decent rational. I have numerous 18V DeWalt and 12V Milwaukee tools and they are all working fine and doing the job. No real reason I "needed" a new cordless, let alone a new battery platform, right? I certainly didn't need the Centrotec installers kit since I did not have a Centrotec drill, right?

So along come this post, & then I was at a wholesale lumber/ply dealer in PA today and it turned out that they are a Festool dealer. Guess what followed me home...

Thanks Scot.

You'll obviously need a PDC next then [member=8712]Richard/RMW[/member] [big grin] [big grin]

I have to say that the control I have with the C15 and C18 is so smooth that I rarely even bother to adjust the torque .. you can almost align screw heads as accurately as by hand [wink]

Fully agree! I'm always reaching for my TSX. I haven't touched my old DeWalt drills and impacts much at all since I brought the TSX home. They only come out for heavy jobs now...

Gave it a go yesterday and I am impressed. Light, great ergonomics and plenty of torque.

If a guy was, ahem... inclined to add to the arsenal, and needed a heavy drill to round out capabilities, what's the best option?

Now you are going to enable others...LOL.

I am debating about the T18 for the extra umph and the PDC looks really nice...just do not know if I need it for the work I do.

OK...so I broke down and brought a PDC home with me today...my dealer had sold the 90 degree chuck to someone else so I have to wait for that to come in, but I got a chance to try it out this afternoon and it is has some solid torque. Now with my TXS and my C12, I feel like I can tackle most any drilling scenario with a cordless drill.

I gave my CXS to my sister last summer.  I miss it soooooo much.
The CXS and TXS are the only 10.8v drills that make 10.8v drills make sense.

I have to say I am more than impressed with the TXS. You read the specs and you think, meh...what is so great about it? Then I made the mistake of picking one up and WOW - the balance and grip were perfect...and then the power is great - the speed is great. It is really awesome.

When I looked at the title today, I just smiled a wicked smile.

Used the TXS a bit this weekend and still love it - it is like a quick-draw from my belt, into hand. Absolutely perfect balance for me. Still amazed.  [big grin]

Well after a few weeks my TXS broke :'(. The clutch setting would not go into drill no matter what...so, a trip back to the dealer and they swapped it out. I hope I do not encounter the same issue with this one. It was a bad day for drill issues for me...my new PDC also had to go back - issue with the regular chuck -- the spring collar would just stay in the open position and I heard a weird rattling sound and tilted the drill body and some solder came out the bottom of the drill. Probably just missed it in assembly, but I figured on a brand new drill not worth risking it. Unfortunately that drill is on order so no replacement for it yet.

Thankfully I have an awesome dealer locally who is taking care of the issues.

Anyone else have clutch issues with their TXS?
