My TS 55 REQ was dropped today. Am I correct that the little metal “finger” is supposed to be in the slot or track and not jammed into the plastic? Thanks in advance

I just looked again at my TS55 and found the metal tap you referenced.

On my saw, the tab is not jammed into the plastic. Its function is to prevent the saw from being plunged unless the trigger is pulled. When the trigger is pulled, the metal tab retracts and allows the saw to be plunged. If the metal tab is jammed into the plastic, my guess is that it cannot retract and the saw cannot be plunged.

I'm a user and not a trained Festool mechanic, but the function looks simple.

The metal tab is indeed the plunge-lock. in locked position it should be at the location of the top green squiggle, if you slide the green safety unlock button on top of the handle and plunge the saw, it is lifted, and then follows the groove you see in in the picture (green arrow).

Just did the same to mine. :'(
Working in the garden and it fell off workpiece onto lawn upside down while I was adjusting a track clamp. Now totally jammed.
How did you fix yours or is it back to Festool?

Ok - so I spent a little more time looking at this yesterday evening and eventually plucked up the courage to yank the plunge mechanism up again.
This has worked and apart from a gouge on the plastic, the saw seems fully functional again. Will need to make a test cut or two to ensure it hasn’t lost any accuracy but so far it’s looking good  :)
