Hi Guys,

I've finally paid out an got myself the 36mm hose with the tradesman kit. However i'm still using my ctl midi hoover. I only work with mdf so dust extraction is a main problem i need to address. I connected my new 36mm hose up started using my ts55 an of1400 router an to be honest i'm noticing not difference at all in the dust being taken away (even with a new bag in) Is this something you guys have noticed? Or is the ctl midi just not powerful enough for a 36mm hose.

Thanks Tom

As I understand all the extractors have the same suction so a midi should be the same as the bigger ones. Interested to hear other opinions as was looking to get 36mm hose myself to use with my midi and ct 26 after hearing how much better it is supposed to be?

I don't know about the UK but a few years ago, the CT MINIs/MIDIs sold in the U.S. received an upgraded powerplant that gave them similar performance as their big brethren.

If I remember correctly, it happened simultaneously with them having been independently tested and sold as "Full Unit HEPA" machines. That was a pressing issue here at the time because of concerns about remodeling where lead paint existed and letting it fly.

I do think they have this in the uk too. The actual extractor seems powerful enough just doesn't seem to take any more dust away compared to my 27mm hose. For example when router a circle in 18mm mdf i'm getting so much dust in the air i'm in need of a dust mask an hoover down afterwards.  Which is something i was trying to do without after buying this new hose.

I just got one for my kapex and I have a ct 36 and there is a very noticeable difference from 27 to 36 but I don't cut much mdf and haven't tried of the router or track saw yet.

iirc sanders/domino/ts dont benefit from a 36mm only the kapex.

I did notice a considerable difference with the TS55 and TS75, especially at the end of the cut once the blade is free of the material.  With the 1400, the DC with a 27mm was already so good that I haven't seen any need to use the 36mm hose -- I felt like I would be creating more potential problems anyway because of the added stiffness of the hose, so I've just stuck with the 27mm.  Though it might make a marginal difference when routing an edge I suppose.
