Dust Deputy to CT hose connection??

Just received the Dust Deputy. Ordered the version with 2" inlet and outlet as the hose ends measured at 2" internal so thought that would fit. WRONG! I have the boom arm. What are you using to adapt the hose ends to the DD? Just wrapping with tape to snug it up? Found a slip on adapter? Thanks for any ideas.

Follow up question--

Is there a 90 degree adapter for the inlet to the CT vacs? Seems I saw one once in a Festool catalog. Would sure help to keep the 50mm hose under control.

Peter,

I have the new plastic dust deputy with 2 inch outlets.  The hoses and fittings all fit nicely with everything on the CT33.  The fittings on the cyclone are tapered and have fit everything I've tried on it.  I did trim off about 3/8 inch off the end of the cyclone fitting to put on the d36 hose.  After wards everything else still fit.  If you have the steel dust deputy, you might check with Nickao or Dave Ronyak.

Yes mine is the steel cyclone. I thought the standard end connections used for the vacuum inlet would fit as they measure 2" but they don't. Does not appear to be any taper to the steel cyclone connections. I could just wrap tape on the ends but really want to be able to swap from 27 to 36mm hose frequently so tape would not be a long term answer. Thanks.

Pete,

They make a double female shop vac hose connector.  I got one at sears and the inside diameter (tapered 2 1/4 I think) fits the festool hoses.  It's the same as the port on the ct vacs.  Maybe you could mount that on the cyclone permanently.  Then you could change hoses in and out of the double female connector without using tape.

You may be thinking of the Hose Sleeve, Antistatic Angle Adapter, Order No 456808:

I don't know if this will be right diameter for you though.

I bought the 2" steel version too.  It came with two adapters - one softer grey colour to snug onto the steel pipe - and one hard black which goes over the grey.  The inside diameter of the black adapter is very close to the inlet diameter of a festool vac - close enough that a festool hose stays in without futher adaptation.

Oneida supply the two adapters to be used on the pipe to the vac.  I have used them on the dust collection pipe instead, and hope to get two more adapters to use on the vac pipe.  I then intend to get a festool hose with vac connections on both ends, to connect the DD to the festool.

I found a section of smooth bore hose that, with a little tape, works well and will be even better when I make my cyclone / CT22 / Systainer cart.

When I ordered my DD a few years ago, they offered an adapter to fit the 2.5mm shop vac hose size. I used that until it cracked, after whcih I repaired it with some cloth and epoxy. (poor man's composite reinforcement. I"ve been using it with two of the smaller hoses, just swapped end connectors... one has two 2.5" connectors, one has two rubber ends... because they happened to fit very nicely into the inlet of the cyclone.

No complaints, cracked adapter aside, after 3 years.
