This cordless vac is a brilliant engineering marvel.

Due to all of the construction going on on my property we are getting a lot of material tracking into our home.  I've become a bit of a house wife trying to keep up after it so we can continue to walk around barefoot without having blackened feet or worse rocks or bits of other construction debri on our soles.

I grew tired of lugging out the shop vac (Fein) and the cord flopping about, managing the attachments, the weight up and down the stairs and over the baby gates, switching plugs (in my older home outlets are hard to find at times!), clean-out process very time consuming and costly with the bag.

Not entirely sure if this belongs in a woodworking forum...the fine dust of some woodworking operations might not be filtered adequately by the Dyson as a disclaimer, however, for general cleanup this thing is the bees knees.

I can clean the floors (carpet, wood, Saltillo tile with deep wide grout lines) no problem...I almost clean daily since I purchased it a month ago because it is so easy and fast...it takes the fine dust off the floor...noticeably different from anything I've used before.

My HAAN mop will see less use because the Dyson is getting up so much.

The good news?  I've moved the Fein to the shop permanently so I've got a dedicated Kapex shop vac (of course the thing has a HEPA Filter).

I will have to agree on the DC59, as I also have a DC 35 there is no comparison between these two units. But admitting both are awesome machines

X2 on the cordless Digitial Dyson.

The wife asked for one for Christmas, and I can't believe how much we use it. Amazing technology...

A mate of mine has had one for a while now and is complaining that the batteries don't last very long and are becoming dead after a bit over a year of use. Have you experienced any of this or does he have a Monday piece?

I have whatever precedes the DC59 b a few years, and that battery was total crap.  I think it lasted 6 months.  I ordered a non-dyson replacement battery and that one has been fine.  I would not buy another cordless Dyson unless I had some kind of multi-year battery warranty.

It's probably got the best power of all of the cordless domestic vacs out there today (but if should have when you consider the price). I don't ue mine that often, but it's certainly very convenient.

I love mine!  We live in a small place, and being able to bust out a vacuum as easily as a broom (no plugs!) makes cleanup easy and spontaneous.  I wish that I had another one for work - sometimes I really want to pack up that CT Midi before all is cleaned up

The battery is generally not the issue. I have found that if you don't clean the pre-filter, it will cause the vac to sop every few seconds.

That and cleaning the battery terminals will make it last the full term.
