Truth be told, our hose occasionally separates at the gun. Its the downside of the value engineered sprayer, but its still a great unit. It is the ONLY one we have that ever has a hose attachment problem. But, it costs about 30% of the price of our next least expensive hvlp! And you are right, Peter, they are a good company to deal with.

I have the 5000, which was recently replaced by the newer 5500. Honestly, I prefer the hose design on mine and think it's better made having seen the 5500. Buying my Earlex can easily be compared to buying my first pneumatic nailer and compressor.

Interesting. Do you know how that happened?
Was the hose not crimped tight enough to the coupling or did the coupling just unscrew?

They are great units, and yes, very similar production boost as nailers. I feel the same way about my nail guns. But, like any tools, there is always the "ooh, what if it had/did this..." factor, which is what drives us (painters) to own a whole fleet of sprayers.

For us, the SprayStation bridges a critical gap between our cordless sprayers and our more esoteric hvlp units that we save for the super fine finish stuff. We will take the SprayStation out and run exterior stain through it on a spindle rail system for instance, wouldnt do that with our nicer rigs. But that is whats impressive about it, its a tough little rig that puts out a nice finish reliably.

And you are right, the man hour savings versus any manual application method probably gives the whole Earlex line as high of an ROI as any hvlp's out there.

The plastic part which fits inside the hose has a ridges - kind of like a barbed fitting.  It does not screw on like a CT hose to a hose end.  There is a metal crimp band on the outside.  My guess is that the plastic can get soft when heated and then I might have pulled or something and then...

I have been impressed since day one and would not hesitate to recommend their products.

Over the years, we have used a bunch. Lately, meaning in 2011, it's been alot of Turbinaire and Graco. Both can be seen in different stages of test and review here. I like the Graco alot because it is a 5 stage and can move heavier product with ease. The Turbinaire is nice on low to medium viscosities. We also use the ProShot cordless in alot of situations that could just as well be hvlp. I have a new hvlp unit coming in late next week that I will be starting to test and integrate as well.

Ya, agree. Except for the cleanup, I believe AAA is superior.
Sorry I wasn't clear, I was really asking about turbine driven HVLP systems.

I have been using my Earlex 5000 to day!  Really handy spray gun easy setup and so portable!

I use my compressor withCompressed tank spray gun!  when doing alot of spraying but for small jobs the earlex 5000 is mint!

Just a picture proof that I did use my Earlex to day!  I built this unit to day and gave it a quick spray for now! Then carried on with making paneling!

I have had my 5000 for over 1 1/2 years.  My only problem with it is that my wife does not know I have it.  OK when I use it just in the basement shop but if I bring it upstairs to use it or clean it, I am in trouble.  And of course I am limited in what I can do in the basement shop because of our natural gas hot water heater and furnace.

I wish she would get out of the house a bit more.

Don't hang your head for anyone. What you are doing is legendary. If you are spraying in the house and she has not left, you have yourself a good woman. I don't dare plug in a sprayer in the house. As far as my wife knows, I own about one sprayer. You have positioned yourself perfectly to work toward every man's dream of having more shop space than home space. You are the one who will be getting out of the house! It only gets better!
