Maybe it is my worrisome nature, but the next three to four days may be testing with hurricane Irene making an appearance for many members here.  Be smart, stay safe, and let us know that you are ok when you are able.

Peter

Peter,

I can't take this opportunity to test out how well a Festool drill handles hurricanes?  [eek]  I'm sure Shane is pondering the idea for some good PR.  [blink]

Better get those batteries charged while you can. [big grin]

Where are the hurricane parties? [cool]

Be safe, my friends!

Huh?

Should that have been "can", not "can't"?  [scratch chin]

Party @ my house...Connecticut!  We're only listed in a possible "extreme" zone. I have my poncho ready!

Bob

According to my wife rudeness and near panic was evident at the grocery store today. Crowds, shelves empty of water and other essentials, fender benders in the parking lot. I hope the local media feels they accomplished their goals - they make anything and everything extreme and seem to love to ramp up the tension.

Wheather channel said that Norfolk area is going to get the worst of this storm.  Calling for 14" of rain?
Got my generator ready and lots of gas!    (to keep the beer cold in the fridge [laughing])

I'll be doing my review of brush on poly versus spray on poly in the storm. I'll be testing things like atomization, gun speed, gun nozzle distance to object, brush types and overlap.

You are using a spray gun?  I thought that you would just be tossing a cup full into the air.  Wear goggles for safety please.  And don't wear that propeller beanie hardhat either.  Enough stuff will be flying around - don't need to have you adding to it.

I had a hurricane pass right over the apartment I was living in once. The wind was about 90 sustained w/ gusts to about 110. I went driving around in the eye but it was hard to thread my way through because of all the trees (in the street).

Tom

I figure as long as I'm not wearing pointy black shoes and a pointy black hat, nothing will land on me. Flying on a broom might be fun though!

Thanks Peter. I didn't think about using the cup applicait method.

I don't like this storm stuff.  I live about a 10 minute drive to the beach and the town I live in has a voluntary evacuation.  Really don't want to leave, my wife's 9 months pregnant and the hospital is only 5 minutes away.  Plus I've gotta keep an eye on all my tools. When I was a kid I remember a bad nor'easter but never been through a hurricane, should be really interesting. My truck is all gassed up and I'll pack a bag just incase we have to leave.

I hope everyone stays safe.

Dave

Dave, you can come party with me!  The hospital is close here & we can play with all our tools!

Haha...be safe & hope all is well!

Bob

Well I will say yesterday prep work in the boat yard as real fun, We took out 38 boats in my yard and have at least 20 more to get out today. Smart move for my customers I don't know, ride it out on the ground, ride it out in the water....who knows who was right on this one.

The boat yard is as prepped as it is going to get I guess at this point. Time will tell..  As for me my house is ready, my whole house generator is good to go so my wife and daughter will have all they need as I am staying in the boat yard to ride this thing out. The in coming storm surge at high tide tommorrow should be unique to see and ride out. The always nice canal behind my house is going to turn into a river for sure

I wish everyone that Irene affects good luck and best wishes of survival for what theyhave coming at them.

Sal

Well, the first leading edge of rain just arrived in our area; South Jersey, neat Cherry Hill.

Most of the stuff in the yard was either stored in the shed or lashed to a tree; which could topple onto the house if the wind gets too hard.

When Isabell hit here in 2003 I had stored everything in the shed.  Then the tree fell and nailed the shed.  OOPS.

Darn this is a big storm.  NJ will be having rain and weather for 24 hours or so.

PS:  Don't have the Weather Channel going in the background continuously.  It will drive you nuts.  Just check it every now and then, more frequently of course when you have the brunt of the storm close by.

Hang in there guys!

Peter

I'm not too worried about the shed being hit.  It's surrounded by trees.  It's the 45-50 foot tall scrub pine that hangs/droops over the house that I am concerned about; think Snoopy pretending to be a vulture...

I keep meaning to have it taken down but, I just never remember when I have the funds.  [crying]  My son seems to always get on my case when the funds are not there.

Here comes Irene...  Storm drain in front of my house can't keep up with all the rain.  No wind yet, this will be an interesting night.

Dave
