Mmm.... got a spare blade, but didn't get a chipping bag...

Will have to remind them next time I'm in that I should have had a chipping bag. I won't use it as I've got a Vac.

It was nice and smooth. I've got some more doors to go in later in the week... I'll let you all know. However, I tend to use my TS55 rather than a planer for my doors now as it's sooooo accurate.

i agree paul. i have the planer, but i use the ts 55 to get a smooth finish. sometimes it requires a light sanding with the 150/5.

i use my planer with  the festool bench unit, SE-EHL.
its great, it allows me to have a mini jointer on site. perfect for scribing detail work, such as skirting and architraves and the like.

you say you use the ts55 for doors, how far do you go with it? cut bottom, trim top if needed, do you cut the width/leading edge with the 55?

i used to use the ts-55 all the time for doors but if its about 3mm or less  to take of the door ill use the planner when inside a customers home as the eh planner has 99.9% dust collection [eek]

For doors I use the ts 55 for the top and bottom, with the planer I would have to flip the door in the buck to prevent tearout. I bevel the sides with my planer (not a festool, but an old makita 1100, which also has 99.9% dustcollection with my CT) The makita is heavy, but I don't really care, because it rests on the door anyway, it has a very long sole, and uses the cheap, reversible blade inserts. (and I got a bevel-guide for it a while back.)

Ive got to admit i never relay used a planner until i bought the eh and i only relay bought it because i was buying the ts-55 and i never relay had a preference on planners but i use the eh nearly every day now and before i did more damage than good with them and scared encase i damaged something [eek]

I never was really confident using a planer myself. My dad tried teaching me planing a bevel freehand, but I really sucked at it (when I was looking at the scribeline I couldn't hold the planer steady) I figured out a workaround for myself, using a shim underneath the front for the first pass, but with the bevelguide I'm doing fine.

BTW if anyone that lives near me has an ehl65 planer and needs a dustbag... I bought one I intended to use on my kapex for outside work, but it doesn't fit, and I'm not planning on buying that planer myself so you can have it.

I bought one last year and love it. the light weight is amazing, . If you work on doors and windows this is an unbeatable machine. Now I relegate my 110mm Makita to the dirty jobs, thank god. I dont miss the plug-it that much, the fixed cord can rotate 360? in the handle. Angled cutters, plane up to the edge of the shoe, and you can switch sides for the DC connection, keeping the hose out of your face. *****(5 stars)

Bench unit has turned up... Put it together and straight away needed it for taking 3.5mm of some walnut stair nosings... Lovely - worked a treat...

However... Unless I am missing something you need to leave it turned on and thus need to turn it on/off at the VAC, also, it's not too easy when upside down to read the depth you've set it too !

But the results were spot on.

Since I use all my Festools with an integrated Plug-It power & suction hose I wanted my EHL65 also with a Plug-It connection.
So I made it myself.
May be it's not under the warranty of Festool, but it works fine. It's somehow strange that Festool still do not update all the equipment with Plug-It power cords. There are still some machines without it.
It looks really nice in the storage with all the Festools with Plug-It connections.
