Thanks everyone for past, present, and future excellent posts, tips, hints, suggestions. I've recently moved my wife and two kids from Los Angeles to Melbourne, Australia. It's good that you usually don't know what you're getting into when you make plans like this. We've been here since the end of April '07. I worked in LA in the film business as a grip for about twelve years, and will probably do so again here when my permanent residency comes through, as well as traveling back to do a movie every now and then. I'm finding life here really great, especially now that I have an empty Kapex box in the trash pile (my dealer told me it's like the Malibu Barbie, a collector's item, and I might want to save the box, but they're just tools right?). Anyway, I'm trying to get plans together to build us a house from the ground up here, and I'm already swamped with renovation and custom work to keep me busy otherwise.
