Embed YouTube Videos - Yes or No?

I have a dial up at home.... 26kb with 2 to 3 kb file transfers!!!  At that speed pictures take awhile....  But for now it's my only option.  When I'm at a site a faster connection I open larger files or update software.

I did think the Festoolies' video was a funny.  And for me worth the wait.

The reason I voted NO is readily seen if you download the "Festool Party" in the group of samples that Tezzer gave us.
  A total waste of 6 or 7 minutes to load. then 1:29 to watch WHAT? I am just afraid that at dial-up speeds too much time will be spent loading "funny" comics.

Keep in mind that the videos would only begin to play when you click the "play" button.  If you have a slow connection, you could just not play the video.  You would still be able to join in any discussion taking place before and after the video.  So, you would not use bandwidth unless you chose to do it.

And as long as the poster of an embedded video includes a description, you can make an informed choice.

I've seen Festool Party, but I enjoyed it when Tezzer posted it.

Hey Matthew, maybe Festool Party can be the first video presented as an embedded video, as a test.  Kinda like the first video run on MTV way back when.  It's clearly Festool-related, and the content won't distract anyone looking for technical issues.

OK, once we're done with the discussion and debate, and if the YouTube add-on is in fact installed, I'll use the "Festool Party" video as the test.  But I'd like to get to a 100-voter threshold, if possible, before concluding the polling.

The YouTube video application is now installed!

Below are some simple instructions on how to use this feature.  It's pretty intuitive.

To Insert YouTube Videos:
1. Go to the YouTube Web site.
2. Pick a video you want to post in your forum message.
3. When the video appears, copy the entire URL of the video.
4. Type your forum message.  When you want to insert the video, click the YouTube  [attachimg=1]  button.
5. Paste the URL address of the video into the code that appears on the screen.

Everyone,
Here's a neat feature.  You can very easily alter the size of a YouTube video in your post.

When you click the YouTube button, you will see this code appear:

[youtube=425,350][/youtube]

By default, the videos have a width of 425 pixels and a height of 350 pixels.  You can alter the numbers to change the dimensions of the video.  Simply replace the default numbers with the numbers you want to use.  The first number is the width and the second number is the height.

So, for example, here's a YouTube video at the default setting of 425 x 350 (425,350):


And here's the same YouTube video, reduced to 225 x 150 (225,150):


This could be helpful if you want to include two or more videos side by side, or if you just want to reduce screen size occupied by the video.
