Empire true blue levels

Anyone had any experience with these levels. I'm currently looking for a new 78" level and came across these and was wondering what you guys think. I know stabilator levels are pretty much the best but these look cool lol

DeanSocial has one   I think he has had his sent back a few times.   I used it and couldn't figure out what was out I then put it against my stabila found his had a slight bend in it only just had it replaced. Lol so needs it replacing again.

My thought of the level!  I didn't like the bubble I prefer my stabila.   I would stick with stabila if I was you.

If Dean sees this he will give his thoughts on it.

Thanks jmb. I just fancied a change from stabila and was wondering was their anything better out there, and I hate yellow lol

just to back up what jmb has said realy, i wouldn't bother. my 6 ft has been replaced already once and now has a slight bend in it so wont be warrantied. The 4ft has been replaced twice and is currently with my dealer again because the bubble is loose again. Complete rubbish imho. I have replaced my 4ft with stabila and will replace my 6ft some point soon with stabila too.

Just as a point of information for you guys over there. Those levels are sold over here in the big box stores and are essentially considered run of the mill, no big deal tools by all the contractors I know. If, as a contractor, you are looking for a half way decent level that doesn't cost much and you can let a grunt beat up, throw it in the cart with the cement bags. I don't know anyone who buys them seriously. I've only bought them for grunts to abuse.

thats interesting as over here they are sold at the same price point as the stabillas. They certainly are not very good

I've got a 4 foot version of the Empire Blue.  It is ok BUT because of the design with the chamfer along the edges it is not friendly for use as marking a line on a surface - i.e a square edge would be better.  They do have a lifetime guarantee on the accuracy.

I tried sola levels over a year ago and had no good luck. I went through 2) 6' levels the top and bottom vials where not matching up. And the 4' wasn't reading true either. I had then for a year and complained so much my dealer took them back and gave me credit towards stabila.

Stabila is well worth the price the accuracy is consistent and they are pretty tough. Well worth the extra money in my mind.

I have a 1.50 m Sola level and after 12 years it's still in perfect order. I haven't spared it, but of course it hasn't seen the rugged daily use it would with a contractor.

good to know, thanks!

I have all Stabila's and the guy I work with all the time has the Stanley Fax max's, they are ok, I would prefer a Stabila any day. One of his 4' was shot after 2 years, and another found a horrible death by Pettibone, lol! so I guess that one wasn't Stanley's fault  [laughing] [laughing]
I can't tell you how many times my 4' Stabila has been knocked over or bumped off something, and still dead true.. peace of mind to have the best, I guess.  [wink]

Forgot to mention that!  That's another reason I don't like the empire blue.

I had a Stanley like you said they are okay.  I dropped mine a few times and it ain't level any more.

I have dropped my 6ft stabila from a roof onto concrete  I dropped it from scaffolding three floors high went straight through the scaffolding didn't touch a single thing down into the basement like a spear onto its rubber edge and bounced and fell over.  I have used mine for dab boarding a lot banging the boards lol [embarassed].  Still going strong 6years on.

Can't beat the Stabila levels I won't buy any other brand.

Stabila 196 levels are great! Pricey, but great! The VIALS (read: not frame) are epoxy sealed and guaranteed accurate for life. This warranty applies to all Stabila vials. For those that do not want to spend the money on the 196 levels, Stabila also offers the 80A-2 and 70A-2 levels that still come with Stbila accuracy and warranty, but the frames are definitely not as heavy duty as the 196's are. But those on a budget and who can take care of their tools can still get Stabila accuracy and save a few dimes.
