ETS EC Edge Sanding Guide

I know Festool makes and sells an attachment for their ETS 125 sander, but I don’t have that sander. I have the ETS EC 125 which I installed a 150 mm pad. I’d like something that helps with edge sanding, but don’t want to buy one of those stationary edge sanding machines and would prefer to not have to buy the ETS 125 plus get into 125mm sandpaper just to be able to use Festool’s edge sanding guide. I also have the DTS 400 sander.

I found these laser printed edge sanding attachments for the ETS EC 125 (they also have ones for the 150mm version):

Anyone use this? I’m wondering if their 125 version has enough clearance for the 150mm pad on the ETS EC 125. Or if their version for the 150 fits on the ETS EC 125. I don’t know if the 125 has the same size housing where these attach to as the 150.

They’re located in the UK and I’m in the US. I haven’t ordered anything directly from the UK so that’s an unknown to me. Plus there’s the things I asked above. I’m waiting on them to reply to my questions which I’ve already emailed them.

Also, does anyone know of any other attachments for the ETS EC or DTS sanders for edge sanding? Festool has covered me for almost every other accessory I’ve needed, except for this edge sanding situation. I don’t know why they don’t have an attachment for the ETS EC sanders. The ETS 125 is $250 US. Used ones go for almost as much. Add in the cost of paper and it’s around $500 US with the edge sanding attachment they make. I’ve already got a couple of their sanders and stock the 150mm paper as well as the paper for the DTS. I’m hoping someone else makes an attachment that would work with a sander I already have.

i have one and using it with etsec 125 with 150 pad.  Works fine.  I spoke to the seller before ordering and they told me to add a note about using 150mm pad.

THere are few 3d printed ones available on thingiverse and printables.com

That's interesting, but limiting at the same time. 90 or 45 and it takes a different fixture for each? That's a little much.

Yep.  When i bought it, it was only 90, I guess 45 came out recently.  I did ask about adjustable angle one when i bought mine, and he said it was in the works. I guess that didn't pan out and 45 came out

There is some beauty in not being adjustable, it never goes out of alignment. However, that same advantage has a downside of being a one-trick pony. It's fantastic at that one thing, which is great.
If you need something else, you need to work around that somehow. I think the 45 degree second unit is probably the best choice (most likely alternative need)
Conversely, is the Swiss Army Knife approach. It can do many things, but none of them particularly well.

The newer DTS (250 watt version) will work with the Festool Edge Sanding Guide as will the DTSC because the new housings have the required retaining channel/groove molded in. The only issue is that because the pad only orbits and does not rotate, all the wear is located in a small area. That's wear to the pad as well as wear to the abrasive.

Here's a DTSC attached to the Festool guide.

And here's something from Thingiverse.

I got the 125 ETS setup for Christmas just for that reason, to use the angle attachment. All I had before were 150mm sanders so I did have to buy some new sandpaper but that was no biggie. I tested it out and it works brilliantly on edges.
