Tried the former today, & was impressed enough to order one. I'm going back next week to collect either the /3 or /5 version - haven't decided which yet.

What are the advantages/disadvantages of going for the bigger orbit?

ETS owners - which orbit did you get, and why?

The 5 is more aggressive than the 3. However, the 3 will produce a slightly finer scratch pattern. That's about it really.

I went with the 3, because I don't need the more aggressive of the two.

I went with the 5 because I figured I would be doing more rough sanding and little fine sanding. I consider fine sanding to be anything above 220 grit.

Hi,

I have the /5. I went with that figuring that a more aggressive stroke would do better as an all around sander. It does a surprisingly good job of material removal with 40 or 60 grit cristal. It has no problem producing a real fine finish also.

I have both the /5 is more aggressive than I thought.  I would do the 3 as long as you are not sanding with 80 grit alot.  The 3 is more like my old bosh and most of the other sanders I use.  Really depends if you use it for more finishing or more stripping things.

Thanks for all the replies.

Yes, it'll be finishing mostly (almost exclusively) so I think I'll stick with the /3.
