Built from 1 x 4 stock in a few hours. Underneath there are stringers with height-adjustable bolts, via threaded inserts, at each panel seam (Panels are connected with biscuits -no glue - re: Jerry Work's excellent article: "Getting the most out of the Festool MFT Table"
Works well...

Hi Art,

Nice "test"!!!  Your large MFT looks great!!!

A couple of questions;  How did you support the table top?  Can you still access the 20mm holes?

Thanks, jim

Jim,

The only holes inaccessible are those directly adjacent to the stringers that support the panels at the seams.  Check that, they're all accessible, its just that you have a stringer in between those around the seams.

Thanks,
Art

Dave,

The table dims are 47 3/4 x 80 15/16. The Festool-supplied rails will fit right down over that frame. The height is 34 3/4.

The addition of this table has improved my productivity significantly.

Great Table Art!

Are you hanging your vac hose from the ceiling?  What type of hardware do you use for that?

Thanks,
Jess

I've got to do something like this in my shop.  Can't count the number of times I have wanted more space on the MFT, in a more mobile format.

Thanks for the ideas!

I just replaced that hose with an antistatic 2" 13'(Festool) and it is tethered via a bungee cord that's attached to a ceiling joist. The bungee forms a loop around the hose by hooking on to itself, which allows for quick hose takedown and stowaway under the top when not in use.

Art, it looks like a very nice table, but how do you lock down the miter fence when making miter cuts?

I haven't used it for miter cuts yet, but I would position a rapid clamp in one of the adjacent holes at the backside of the fence and clamp it near the end.

Art,

I love your MFT. Could you give me more details on the construction? Maybe a picture from below the top to understand the stringers/levelers? And can you explain the 1x construction? It looks kind of like Norms worktable, which I have been thinking of getting the plans for. Are the 1x rails strong enough to have no sag in the middle of the top?

Thanks for any help you can give.

-Randy

The Festool rails prevent sag. The table top just sits on 1X frame. Looks great!

Looks fantastic Art ;D More great inspiration for when i get around to make mine. Well done ;D

Randy,

I'll forward the Sketchup drawing to you if you'd like. Unfortunately, the file is too large (216 kb) to post here.

Thanks for the kind words everyone...

Hey Matthew,

Is there a way to post the sketchup file here somewhere?

Art, that would be over the top, please do.

Matt, That would be a really cool feature - a sketchup repository.

Thanks, Randy

We were discussing ways to do this in another thread.  I'd like to have a Sketchup repository here in the forum, but we ran into some issues.  However, we did come up with a workable solution.

Here's the related Sketchup discussion:http://festoolownersgroup.com/index.php?topic=1025.msg9473#msg9473
