I just picked up a Kapex Miter Saw and am looking for recommendations for which dust extractor to use with it. I’m going to be using it in my basement shop whilst my garage gets rebuilt, so I’m looking for whatever’s going to keep the dust to a minimum.
I currently have a CT Midi I that gets used with my MT55, ETS EC 125, Domino, router, and for general clean-up. I don’t want to use this for the miter saw as well because the hassle of unplugging it and moving it around the shop makes the price of a new vacuum worth it to me. Larger capacity would be great but I’m more concerned with efficiency; this is going to be used often on nights and weekends, but not as my 9-to-5 saw.
A few questions I haven’t been able to find definitive answers to:
- Is a short 36mm hose better than the stock 27mm for this purpose?
- Am I going to get more suction power from a vac that has the hose connection going straight in from the top (CT15, Mini, Midi) vs from the front (CT26, CT36)?
- Will the slight CFM difference between the Mini/Midi and the CT26/36 make any practical difference in suction power?
- I’m plenty familiar with the CT15 and CT36 as I use both at work, and I’ve seen both of them recommended for use with the Kapex. This seems kinda wild to me because one’s double the size of the other. Is capacity really the only difference for this use case?
Thanks for any suggestions.
