Felder/Hammer PRE sale customer service...pretty impressive.

Hi guys,

I've been researching which bandsaw to buy recently and spent some time looking at the Hammer N4400 on the Felder/Hammer website a few days ago. I made a request through the site to receive the relevant brochures.

This morning I got a call from a guy at Felder UK. He said he'd seen my request for the brochures and was sending them out for me this morning, and wanted to know if there was any more information I'd like or any questions I wanted to ask about the machines. He judged it just right...no pressure at all, no mention of making a sale or anything like that, just a nice chat with someone that really knew their stuff.  It ended with him saying, 'it was nice talking, hope you really enjoy whichever tool you decide is right for you.'  I was very impressed, and am now almost certain that he'll get my business.

Good to know that there's still some top rate customer service out there.

My Felder rep here in Southern California (Carl Knapp) is the best. No high pressure, takes all the time needed to answer questions, and follows up on everything he says he will do.

One warning though, if they send you some DVD demonstrations of their machines, DO NOT WATCH THEM. It can be devastating to your bank account. (Don't ask me how I know that)  ;D

Understood John. If I receive any suspicious looking DVDs in the post, I'll burn them before watching.  And I'll take your warning seriously, I gather you've got one or two pretty sizeable toys at your place?

Mac, it started out innocently enough, I got a very good deal on a floor model AD 741 (16" jointer/planer combo).

Then the DVDs arrived. I watched the one of "Zeth the carpenter" starting with a pile of rough timber and building a beautiful desk using nothing but a Felder KF 740 (sliding table saw combo with shaper, jointer, and planer).  I went on to watch the other videos, but I kept going back to the one starring Zeth and the KF 740. Finally I could control myself no longer, and I ordered a KF 700 (the combo without the jointer/planer).

I'm now awaiting the arrival of a Felder belt sander, built in Italy by EMC and finished by Felder in Austria. It's still about two months away.

I'm finding it hard enough to resist the lure of any video starring someone called 'Zeth the Carpenter', and this does not help, Joez...
