Fence for Tool Improvement "Lock Fence Dogs"?

I picked up a set of  Tool Improvement "Lock Fence Dogs".  I was wondering what kind of fence to use with these dog?  There are a couple of Incra products that look like they will work, though I'm not sure which extrusion will work with simple flip stops. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, Woody

those should work with the original MFT fence, with the Incra track system and an 80/20 extrusion.

Curious what is the benefit of using the Incra track system as a fence vs the original MFT fence? Are folks adding a right to left tape onto the track, and calibrating it?

I am working with CNC slab top and do not have a Festool fence.  I like the idea of the Incra Flip Fence but am not sure if the the Dogs fence fence mounting bolt will adjust high enough for this extrusions T track.

If possible wouldn't you want your fence to go under the cutting rail? If so it should be thinner than the Incra. Something more like this.http://www.woodpeck.com/dptrack.html

I have my fence setup with rail dogs, which is the same thing I use to keep the rail inline. They form a nice 90* angle. Since my fence is my Woodpeckers PGS and I have standard and metric, I can work either way. Calibration is accomplished by the attaching the PGS to rail, then removing the bracket once the rail dogs are tightened. I do need to order a section like I linked above to attach under the rail and cut it to length at the end of the rail. Everything fits into a Systainer (Well I do have a second one for clamp storage). Using the PGS also gives me the capability to cut narrow strips, IF I have enough material length to use the fence.

Peter_C, Thats a very clean set up.  The dogs I have mount to a horizontal T-slot so it looks like I need to find a taller extrusion this time around.

rvieceli, thanks for the link. I have not been able to find a diagram showing the various Incra extrusions dimensions.  It looks like the Flip Track T-slot will be to high for the dog hardware.

I think that Kreg flip stops will work with an 8020 rail. It would be nice to have sort of scale to adjust the stops to though.

You could always return what you have? Without the ability for the fence to slide under the rail you are going to be limited in how narrow of a cross cut you can perform. The rails I use, and linked too, allow for down to a 1/2" thickness. The fence part under the rail will be removable should I need to cut less than 1/2" material.

If the dogs you have work with the MFT fence, why not just buy an MFT fence? I have seen a few for sale with one being on this site recently. I do not know myself if they will work together though.

Incra and others make right to left stick on scales. You will need a way to calibrate the fence though. Once set it shouldn't need adjustment, unless you remove the dogs from the fence. Something like a board cut to an exact measurement and butted to the saw kerf at the rail, where it then extends 10" back to line up with the 10" mark on the fence scales.

I mount my Incra Tracks on a base that spans the MFT with lengths of Incra Track both to the left and right of the Guide Rail. I then have sub-fences mounted to the front faces of the Incra Tracks which cover both the Tracks and the base that they are mounted on. These sub-fences have their inside ends mitered such that they will then retain (house) a replaceable middle sub-fence between them. This middle sub-fence covers the area underneath the Guide Rail (and a little on either side) and is replaceable with different height sub-fences, each cut for the various thickness material you will work with. This method functions as a zero-clearance fence.

That fence should work great with your fence mounts! It also has plenty of room to stick a (couple) R-L measure tapes onto it. Maybe one metric and one standard?http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_2_15?url=search-alias=tools&field-keywords=stick+on+tape+measure+right+to+left&sprefix=stick+on+tape+m%2Ctools%2C208

Shipping might be the issue but these stops are cheaper from Woodpeckers, amazingly.http://www.shopwoodpeckers.com/wood...qSVbnLi7ywMNE2VAINlpf_fYNgi0Hr89texoCyXHw_wcBhttp://www.amazon.com/Woodpeckers-Precision-Woodworking-Tools-13-MLFSTOP/dp/B00BMNPQJE

I see no need for a micro adjuster on a flip stop as they are very easy to set. Although it is cool.

The Woodpecker Super Track, SF Bracket Kit, and Super Track Flip Stop work great for me with some Precision Dogs and knobs.

I use the Super Track on edge so that I can stack sheet goods and cut parts in pairs.  The brackets keep it very stable.

Also, these flip stops are nice quality and are relatively cheap.  WOODPECKERS STAINLESS STEEL ARM FLIP STOP
